Description
Green jade owl carving, 9cm tall and 283g, standing on its own feet with no separate base.
Deep mossy green with darker shading through the body and paler veining running across the face and chest. The polish is satin rather than glassy, which is usual for jade and gives it a softer look than the quartz carvings. The feathering is cut in low relief and the eyes are simple rounds.
What a green jade owl means
Jade has one of the longest unbroken histories of any stone worked by people, carved for thousands of years in China and by Mฤori carvers in Aotearoa, and kept as much for luck and protection as for beauty.

Care
Jade is tough and stands up well to handling, which is why it has been carved for so long. The satin polish dulls under abrasive cleaners, so avoid those and avoid salt. A dry cloth is enough.
At 283g it is heavy enough to chip a tiled floor or itself if dropped. Cleanse with sound, breath or moonlight.
