Freeforms

A freeform is a crystal polished into whatever shape best suits the stone itself, rather than cut into a sphere, tower or heart. That keeps more of the natural material and lets its colour, pattern and flash take centre stage. Many freeforms sit upright on their own, which makes them easy to display.

Choosing a freeform

Choose by the stone first and the shape second. Labradorite freeforms show off their blue and gold flash as you turn them, fluorite carries soft bands of purple and green, and blue kyanite brings its blade like texture to a small, easy piece.

Using a freeform

Keep a freeform on a desk or bedside table, hold one during meditation, or set it at the centre of an altar. Larger pieces bring a crystal’s presence into a room much as a sphere or tower does.

Care

Dust with a soft cloth. Fluorite and kyanite are softer stones, so keep them apart from harder crystals and away from water.
