Description
Pink amethyst sphere, carved and polished, with an open druzy cave running into the body of the stone. It weighs 316g and measures 67mm across, which is 21cm around the circumference.
This one is pale. The colour sits closer to cream and soft white than to the deeper blush you see on saturated pieces, with warmer pink flushing through the lower half and around the rim of the cave. Held up to a window the thinner areas go slightly translucent and the crystal fabric inside shows as a mass of small interlocking plates.
The cave is the feature of this pink amethyst sphere. It opens on one face, lined with a crystalline crust that catches light at an angle rather than head on. Turn the sphere slowly under a lamp and it moves from flat white to sparkle and back again.

The crystal inside the cave is fragile at the tips. Dust it with a dry soft brush and leave it at that. Water pools in a cave like this and dries with a mark, so keep it out.
