Description
A solid brass altar bell crowned with the triquetra, the three cornered Celtic knot. It stands about 10.5cm tall and 5cm across, weighing around 50g. A good, full size altar bell with a clear, bright ring that carries across a room.
The triquetra is an ancient Celtic knot of three interwoven loops, often read as a symbol of threefold connection and continuity, a beautiful bell for a Celtic or Wheel of the Year altar.
How to use a witch bell
- Open and close a ritual. Ring the bell once to begin and once to finish, marking the moment you step into and out of sacred space.
- Clear a space with sound. Walk slowly around a room and ring the bell in each corner, letting the sound fade completely before you move on.
- Call the quarters. Ring once at each direction as you cast your circle.
- Mark a moon or Sabbat moment, such as the turn of the new moon, the full moon or the longest night.
- Cleanse between readings by ringing the bell over your tarot or oracle deck.
Bells pair beautifully with candle work. Our candle colour guide explains what each colour is traditionally used for.

Caring for brass
Brass naturally darkens over time. Many people love the softer, aged look. If you prefer it bright, polish gently with a soft cloth and a little brass polish, and keep it dry.
