Description
These black tourmaline towers are polished to a deep, even black with a soft sheen across the faces. There are two to choose from, at 14cm and 17cm.
Choose your black tourmaline tower
- A, 14cm, 578g, £46. The broader and heavier of the two, a solid six sided point with a fine pale line running through one face, a natural mark in the stone.
- B, 17cm, 538g, £43. Taller and slimmer, an even deep black from base to point.
Every tower is photographed on its own, and the letter in the dropdown matches the photos, so the black tourmaline tower you see is the one you receive.
What black tourmaline is
Black tourmaline is the mineral schorl, the most common member of the tourmaline family. It grows in long, striated crystals, which is why a polished tower carries that strong upright shape so well.
Black tourmaline meaning and traditional correspondences
Black tourmaline is one of the most loved protection stones in traditional practice. It is kept by the front door, near a desk or beside the bed as a boundary stone, and it sits with the root chakra for grounding.
Many people turn to it at Samhain, when the veil is said to be thin, and it pairs naturally with Capricorn energy. In a crystal grid it often holds the outer points, quietly keeping the space.
Correspondences are traditional and are offered as part of a practice, not as a substitute for medical or professional advice.
Caring for your black tourmaline tower
Black tourmaline sits at 7 to 7.5 on the Mohs scale, so it is hard, but it can split along its natural length if dropped. Stand it on a flat surface and lift it from the base. Cleanse with sound, breath or moonlight.
