Description
A crystal elephant, carved and polished from natural stone. Most stand around 8cm to 10cm long, and each one is a single piece with its own colour and markings. Choose from seven stones, with the trunk position noted for each so you can pick the energy that suits you.
The elephant as a symbol
Across India, Thailand, China and far beyond, the elephant has long stood for wisdom, strength, loyalty and good fortune. Elephants never forget, they protect their young fiercely, and the herd is led by its oldest and wisest female, so they are also linked with family, memory and the power of the mother. In Hindu tradition the elephant headed Ganesha is the remover of obstacles and the god of new beginnings, and in Buddhist story Queen Maya dreamed of a white elephant before the birth of the Buddha.
Trunk up or trunk down?
- Trunk up: the best known lucky elephant. A raised trunk is said to catch good fortune and shower it over the home, bringing joy, celebration and success. Often placed near the front door, facing in, to welcome luck into the house.
- Trunk down: just as meaningful, and often misunderstood. A lowered trunk is linked with storing energy rather than spending it, with steady grounding, wisdom and fertility, and with Ganesha’s gift of removing obstacles. Lovely for a bedroom, a study or anywhere calm and focused.
Choose your crystal elephant stone
- Green Fluorite (Trunk Up): clear sea green fluorite. Known as a stone of clarity, focus and calm, linked with the heart chakra, and a lovely study companion.
- Yellow Fluorite (Trunk Up): honey yellow fluorite with a soft purple trunk. Associated with creativity, confidence, cheerful energy and the solar plexus chakra.
- Caribbean Calcite (Trunk Up): soft aqua blue and cream with warm caramel bands. Known for its peaceful, ocean calm energy and gentle communication.
- Jade (Trunk Up): mossy green jade, the classic stone of harmony, prosperity and good luck. A perfect pairing with the lucky elephant.
- Garnet in Matrix (Trunk Up): deep wine red garnet set in its natural host rock. Linked with strength, commitment, passion and the root chakra.
- Obsidian (Trunk Up): natural volcanic glass, deep and glossy black. A traditional stone of protection and grounding, a steady guardian for the home.
- Rose Quartz (Trunk Down): soft milky pale pink quartz with little carved tusks. The stone of compassion, self love and family love, and with its lowered trunk a gentle keeper of calm and fertility.
