Description
This is a handmade Indian singing bowl decorated with the phases of the Moon. It measures about 17cm across and 8cm tall, and weighs approximately 850g. It is made in India from copper and tin, and as each bowl is handmade, the tone and finish vary slightly from one to the next.
The moon phase design makes it a beautiful companion for new moon and full moon rituals, as well as everyday meditation.
A large bowl gives a deeper, fuller tone with a long sustain, ideal for meditation, yoga and sound baths at home.
How to use a singing bowl
- Rest the bowl on your flat palm or a cushion, so nothing dampens the sound.
- Strike the side gently with a wooden mallet and listen as the note rises and fades.
- To make it sing, press the mallet against the outside rim and circle slowly and steadily. The tone builds the longer you keep a smooth, even pace.
- Use it to open and close a meditation or ritual, to mark the moment of a new or full moon, or to clear a room with sound.
Wipe with a soft dry cloth after use and store it somewhere it will not be knocked.
