Description
Bergamot FCF essential oil is cold pressed from the peel of Citrus bergamia, a small citrus fruit native to the Calabria region of southern Italy, now also grown in Ivory Coast, Argentina, and elsewhere. FCF stands for Furocoumarin-Free, meaning the phototoxic bergapten compound (a furocoumarin) has been removed, making this version safe for use in skin care products without the risk of photosensitivity reactions.
Bergamot FCF essential oil has a fresh, sweet, citrusy, and delicately floral aroma with subtle spicy and balsamic undertones. The dominant aromatic constituents include linalyl acetate and linalool, which give bergamot its distinctive rounded, slightly floral quality that sets it apart from other citrus oils. The scent of bergamot is instantly recognisable as the flavouring in Earl Grey tea and is one of the most beloved citrus aromatics in perfumery.
In aromatherapy, bergamot essential oil is one of the most important and versatile oils available. It is used in uplifting, calming, and mood-balancing diffuser blends, and is one of the primary oils used in blends for anxiety and depression. The FCF version is particularly useful in skin care formulations, massage blends, and any application where the oil is applied before sun exposure. Bergamot blends beautifully with lavender, ylang ylang, jasmine, neroli, geranium, and most citrus and herb oils.
Bergamot FCF essential oil is generally well-tolerated for most skin applications due to the removal of the phototoxic components. Always dilute before skin application. This 10ml bottle is suitable for use in diffusers, oil burners, skin care, and diluted blends. Not for internal use.
