Description
Myrrh has been prized since ancient Egypt for its deep, earthy, bittersweet scent. On charcoal it releases a slow, resinous smoke that feels grounding and still.
Myrrh resin for ritual and reflection
Traditionally myrrh is linked with the moon, with grief and release, and with quiet inner work. It pairs beautifully with frankincense, the two balancing one another, and together they belong to Yule and the winter solstice.
How to burn resin incense
- Light a charcoal disc with tongs and rest it in a heatproof burner or cauldron filled with sand.
- Wait until the disc glows and turns grey at the edges.
- Place a pea sized piece of resin on top and let the smoke rise.
Burn in a well aired room, keep away from children and pets, and never leave burning resin unattended. Each tub holds around 50g; weights can vary slightly as resin is a natural material.
