Description

This blue tigers eye tower stands 16cm tall and weighs 392g. It is cut as a six sided point from dark blue tigers eye with bands of gold running through it, and polished on every face.

It is a single piece, photographed from each side. The tower in the photos is the one you receive.

What this blue tigers eye tower looks like

Most of the tower is a deep inky blue that reads almost black on a shelf. Fine stripes of gold, caramel and blue grey run up through the faces, and one side carries a broad sweep of honey gold near the point.

Under a lamp the blue areas glow with a soft silvery sheen that moves as you walk past. At 16cm it has real presence on a shelf or altar without taking over the space.

About blue tigers eye

Blue tigers eye, often called hawks eye, is a variety of quartz. It forms when quartz grows around fine blue fibres of crocidolite, and those parallel fibres catch the light to give the stone its shimmer, known as chatoyancy.

Where the fibres have altered over time they turn golden, which is why this tower shows both colours. You can read more on the Gemdat tigers eye page.

At around 7 on the Mohs scale it is hard wearing, so a tower in this stone is a good choice for a busy home.

Blue tigers eye tower meaning and traditional uses

In crystal practice blue tigers eye is traditionally linked with calm focus, clear thinking and steady communication. It is associated with the throat chakra and with Capricorn, and is often thought of as a protective stone.

A tower is cut to a single point, which is traditionally said to direct a stone’s energy upwards. Many people keep one on a desk as a reminder to stay level headed when things get busy.

Ways people like to use a tower:

  • On a desk during work, study or planning.
  • At the centre of a crystal grid, point facing upwards.
  • Beside the front door or in a hallway as a protective piece.
  • On a bookshelf alongside golden tigers eye, so the two colours sit together.

Caring for your blue tigers eye tower

The point is the most delicate part of any tower, so set it down gently and keep it away from the edge of a shelf. Store it apart from harder stones that could scratch the polish.

Wipe it with a soft dry cloth to bring back the shine. Smoke, sound or moonlight are gentle ways to cleanse it, and our crystal cleansing guide covers each method.
