Description
Coyolxauhqui goddess mug, a 13oz white ceramic mug printed with original Mystic Grove artwork. One side carries Coyolxauhqui with her title, Golden Bells of the moon. Turn the mug and her name sits in spaced capitals under a small crescent moon and two leaf sprigs.
The artwork is painted in soft, natural colours on plain white, so it reads like an illustration rather than a slogan. It is as at home on a kitchen shelf as it is on an altar.
Who Coyolxauhqui is
Coyolxauhqui is the Aztec goddess of the moon, and her name means painted with bells. In the story she led her four hundred brothers, the stars, against their mother Coatlicue, and was defeated by her brother, the sun.
Her great carved stone was found in Mexico City in 1978.
Her symbols on the Coyolxauhqui goddess mug
- Golden bells. The bells on her cheeks that give her her name.
- Feathers. The ball of feathers at the heart of her mother’s story.
- Marigolds. Golden flowers honoured across Mexico, glowing like moonlight.
A Coyolxauhqui goddess mug for your practice
A mug is one of the simplest ways to keep a goddess close. The first brew of the day becomes a small pause, and some people keep a goddess mug just for moon tea or for a cup poured as an offering.
In modern practice she is often paired with moonstone and citrine, for the moon and her golden bells. She suits anyone drawn to the old stories of Mexico and the moon.
Correspondences are traditional and offered as part of a practice, not as a substitute for medical or professional advice.
