A red jasper sphere, cut and polished from natural jasper and sent with a stand. There are two to choose from, a 63mm sphere and a smaller 40mm sphere, both in the warm, earthy red that red jasper is loved for.

Choose your red jasper sphere

• A, 63mm, 363g, £25. Brick red with a scattering of dark grey and black speckles across the whole sphere, and a high, glassy polish.
• B, 40mm, 112g, £15. Deep rust red with soft lighter veining and a small pale grey patch on one side. A lovely size to hold in the hand.

What red jasper is

Red jasper is a fine grained form of chalcedony and quartz, coloured red by iron. Its colour runs from brick and rust through to deep earthy red, often with veins, bands or speckles of other minerals.

It is one of the oldest stones in use, carved into seals, beads and amulets in the ancient world.

Traditional correspondences

Red jasper is traditionally known as a stone of stamina and grounding, linked with the root chakra and with courage, steadiness and staying power. It is often kept close during busy or demanding times as a reminder to stay rooted.

Its fiery colour suits autumn altars, Samhain and the hearth of the darker months.

Caring for your red jasper sphere

Jasper is around 6.5 to 7 on the Mohs scale and takes knocks well, but a sphere can chip if it rolls. Keep it on its stand and dust with a soft dry cloth. To cleanse, use sound, breath or moonlight.
