Description
Ho wood essential oil is steam distilled from the wood and branches of Cinnamomum camphora, the camphor tree, specifically from trees and varieties that are selectively cultivated or harvested for their high linalool content rather than for camphor production. Ho wood oil is considered a more sustainable alternative to rosewood essential oil, as it is produced from a renewable source and without threatening endangered rainforest trees.
Ho wood essential oil has a soft, sweet, floral, and slightly woody aroma that is very similar to rosewood oil. The dominant constituent is linalool, typically present at 80 to 98%, which is responsible for its smooth, refined floral-woody character. Because ho wood contains such a high percentage of linalool, it provides a very similar aromatic and therapeutic profile to rosewood at a more affordable price point and from a more sustainable source.
In aromatherapy, ho wood essential oil is used in calming, centering, and emotionally supportive preparations. It is a gentle oil suitable for sensitive skin when diluted, and is valued in skin care formulations for its mild, non-irritating character. In natural perfumery, ho wood functions as an excellent sustainable substitute for rosewood, providing a smooth floral-woody heart note. It blends beautifully with lavender, rose, geranium, ylang ylang, frankincense, and sandalwood.
Ho wood essential oil is generally well-tolerated and considered one of the safer essential oils for skin application. Always dilute before use. This 10ml bottle is suitable for diffusers, oil burners, and diluted skin and massage preparations. Not for internal use.
