Description
This blue kyanite tower stands 15.5cm tall and weighs 493g. It is cut as a six sided point and polished, showing blades of blue kyanite set through a pale silvery matrix.
It is a single piece, photographed from each side. The tower in the photos is the one you receive.
What this blue kyanite tower looks like
The blue sits in long flat blades that criss cross the stone, from soft cornflower to a deeper denim blue. Between them the matrix is white, pale grey and silvery, so the whole tower has a frosted, almost wintry look.
Turn it in the light and the blades catch a pearly sheen along their length. Every face shows a different pattern, which is why it is shown from several sides.
About kyanite
Kyanite is an aluminium silicate mineral that forms in long bladed crystals, usually in metamorphic rocks. Its name comes from the Greek word for dark blue.
It has an unusual feature. Its hardness changes with direction, around 4.5 along the length of a blade and up to about 7 across it. You can read more about its structure on Mindat’s kyanite page.
Blue kyanite tower meaning and traditional uses
In crystal practice blue kyanite is traditionally linked with calm, clear communication and meditation. It is associated with the throat chakra, and is often described as a stone for all the chakras.
It is also linked with Libra, Taurus and Pisces. A tower is traditionally said to direct a stone’s energy upwards, so many people keep a kyanite tower in a quiet corner used for meditation or reflection.
Ways people like to use a tower:
- In a meditation space as a calm focal point.
- On a desk before writing, speaking or presenting.
- At the centre of a crystal grid, point facing upwards.
- On a windowsill, where daylight brings out the blue blades.
Caring for your blue kyanite tower
Kyanite blades can split along their length, so handle the tower with a little care and avoid knocks or drops. Keep it apart from harder stones that could scratch the faces.
Wipe it with a soft dry cloth rather than soaking it. Smoke, sound or moonlight are gentle ways to cleanse it, and our crystal cleansing guide covers each method.
