• A, Agate with Amethyst Druzy, 17cm across, £45. The largest moon. Soft dove grey agate with fine blue grey banding, opening at the heart into a pocket of sparkling lilac amethyst druzy edged in white crystal. Sent on a silver ring stand.
• B, Agate with Crystal Druzy, 14cm across, £40. Blue grey agate with flowing bands curving around a pocket of pale pink and lilac druzy near the tip, and a dark agate eye on the reverse. Sent on a silver stand with a twisted stem.
• C, Ocean Jasper, 10cm across, £22. Chocolate brown and cream ocean jasper scattered with white orbs, crystal pockets and bright flashes of gold. Sent on a silver stand.
• D, Rainbow Fluorite, 10cm across, £39. Translucent rainbow fluorite in bands of deep purple, soft green and clear, glowing when the light comes through. Sent on a gold stand.
• E, Crazy Lace Agate, 11cm across, £30. Peach, pink and soft grey crazy lace agate in tight swirls and little orbs, with a cream lace pattern running through. Sent on a silver ring stand.
• F, Ocean Jasper, 10cm across, £25. Brick red ocean jasper swirled with sage green, cream and lilac, with round orb eyes and soft banding. Sent on a silver ring stand.
• G, Money Agate, 10cm across, £25. Deep chocolate brown money agate patterned with white lace and bright flecks of gold. Sent on a silver stand.
• H, Mookaite, 10cm across, £40. Creamy ivory mookaite with a sweep of plum and mauve along the outer curve and a warm mustard glow at the tips. Sent on a gold stand.

About the stones

Agate is a banded form of chalcedony, a fine grained quartz. Many agates formed inside hollows in volcanic rock, and where the hollow was not filled completely, a sparkling lining of tiny quartz or amethyst crystals grew in the centre. That is the druzy you see at the heart of moons A and B. Crazy lace agate is a lively, tightly patterned agate in peach, pink, grey and cream.

Ocean jasper is a form of chalcedony known for its round orbs, small crystal lined pockets and swirling colour, which is why it is also called orbicular jasper. Moons C and F show two quite different sides of it.

Money agate is the name given to a dark brown agate patterned with white and flecked with gold, and those golden flecks are where the name comes from.

Rainbow fluorite forms in bands of purple, green and clear, and a polished slice lets the light shine straight through the colours.

Mookaite is a colourful form of jasper, a fine grained quartz rock, known for its creams, mustards, plums and reds.

Crystal moon meaning and traditional correspondences

The crescent moon is one of the oldest symbols of the divine feminine, intuition and the turning cycles of life. Fluorite is kept for focus, a clear mind and order, and is linked with the heart and third eye. Mookaite is traditionally kept for grounding, encouragement and a sense of adventure, and is linked with the root and sacral chakras.

Caring for your crystal moon

Agate, jasper and mookaite are around 6.5 to 7 on the Mohs scale and take everyday display well. Fluorite is softer, around 4, so keep it away from harder stones and handle it gently. Druzy crystals can chip if knocked, so dust them with a soft dry brush. Keep fluorite and amethyst out of strong direct sun, as their colour can fade over time. To cleanse, use sound, breath or moonlight.
