Description
This is a handmade Chaken singing bowl with a hand hammered finish. It measures about 21cm across and 8cm tall, and weighs approximately 1200g. It is made in India from copper and tin, and as each bowl is handmade, the tone and finish vary slightly from one to the next.
Chaken bowls have a warm, earthy look and a rich, layered tone that suits slow, grounding practice.
An extra large bowl with a deep, resonant voice and a long sustain that fills a room, a centrepiece for sound baths, classes and group ritual.
How to use a singing bowl
- Rest the bowl on your flat palm or a cushion, so nothing dampens the sound.
- Strike the side gently with a wooden mallet and listen as the note rises and fades.
- To make it sing, press the mallet against the outside rim and circle slowly and steadily. The tone builds the longer you keep a smooth, even pace.
- Use it to open and close a meditation or ritual, to mark the moment of a new or full moon, or to clear a room with sound.
Wipe with a soft dry cloth after use and store it somewhere it will not be knocked.
