Description
This is a handmade bell metal singing bowl, polished to a bright, shining finish. It measures about 15cm across and 8cm tall, and weighs approximately 750g. It is made in India from copper and tin, and as each bowl is handmade, the tone and finish vary slightly from one to the next.
Bell metal is the traditional bronze of copper and tin used for temple bells, and gives a clear, bright note with a long, ringing sustain.
A versatile size that sits comfortably in the hand, with a balanced tone that suits daily meditation and small groups.
How to use a singing bowl
- Rest the bowl on your flat palm or a cushion, so nothing dampens the sound.
- Strike the side gently with a wooden mallet and listen as the note rises and fades.
- To make it sing, press the mallet against the outside rim and circle slowly and steadily. The tone builds the longer you keep a smooth, even pace.
- Use it to open and close a meditation or ritual, to mark the moment of a new or full moon, or to clear a room with sound.
Wipe with a soft dry cloth after use and store it somewhere it will not be knocked.
