Description
A smoky quartz tower, cut and polished into a six sided standing point. There are eight to choose from, between 4.5cm and 8cm, small enough to sit on a desk, a bedside table or in the centre of a crystal grid. Each tower is photographed on its own, and the letter in the dropdown matches the photo, so the smoky quartz tower you see is the one you receive.
Choose your smoky quartz tower
- A, 6cm, 90g, £25. Clear warm smoke through the tip, with soft veils drifting across the middle and a frosted band towards the base. The weightiest of the set.
- B, 6.5cm, 84g, £20. The deepest smoke of the group, with glittering inner veils and a small rainbow that shows low on one face.
- C, 6cm, 82g, £18. Honey brown and glassy, with bright flashes inside when the light catches it and a misty lower half.
- D, 6cm, 79g, £18. Light smoke with a golden glow, fine veils through the body and a soft cloudy base.
- E, 4.5cm, 58g, £16. A short, wide point in pale golden smoke with a sloping tip and little rainbow flashes inside.
- F, 8cm, 64g, £12. Tall and slim, warm honey smoke along its whole length. The tallest of the set.
- G, 4.5cm, 51g, £16. Smoky at the tip, fading to pale gold at the base with a misty band across the middle.
- H, 5cm, 56g, £16. Pale golden smoke with darker veils gathered through the centre.
The first photo shows the whole set together, so you can compare the shades side by side.
What smoky quartz is
Smoky quartz is quartz that has darkened naturally in the ground. Over a very long time, low natural radiation in the surrounding rock acts on traces of aluminium inside the crystal, and the clear quartz takes on its smoke. The finished crystal is perfectly safe to handle and keep in the home.
The shade runs from pale golden brown through honey to deep coffee, and many pieces carry more than one tone, which is why no two of these towers are quite alike.
Smoky quartz towers in crystal practice
Smoky quartz is traditionally known as a grounding and protective stone, linked with the root chakra. It is often kept by the front door or on a desk to help settle busy thoughts, held at the end of a long day, or placed on the altar when letting go of something that no longer serves.
Its earthy, inward feel suits the darker half of the year and the waning moon, and a smoky quartz tower makes a natural companion for Samhain and Mabon altars. Many people pair it with black tourmaline or clear quartz in a protection grid.
Correspondences are traditional and are offered as part of a practice, not as a substitute for medical or professional advice.
Caring for your smoky quartz tower
Quartz is 7 on the Mohs scale, so it is hard wearing, but the tip and edges can chip if a tower is knocked over. Stand it on a flat surface away from the edge of a shelf.
Long spells in strong sunlight can soften the smoke over time, so a spot out of direct sun keeps the colour at its best. Rinse with water and dry with a soft cloth, or cleanse with sound, breath or moonlight.
