Description

Sodalite tower, carved and polished into six sided points with flat cut bases. There are three to choose from: a large 19cm statement tower in deep royal blue, and two smaller 9cm towers, one bold blue and one soft and speckled. The letter in the dropdown matches the photos, so the sodalite tower you see is the one you receive.

Choose your sodalite tower

  • Large, 19cm, 528g, £37. Deep royal blue, close to navy in places, with a bold white vein sweeping across the face and patches of cream and soft gold towards the base.
  • A, 9cm, 97g, £12. Rich blue threaded with fine white veins and touches of soft green, with a paler cream patch near the point.
  • B, 9cm, 92g, £12. A gentler tower, pale grey and white speckled all over with flecks and patches of royal blue, and a few tiny sparkles in the light.

Every tower is photographed as it is, under ordinary light and without lifting the colour, so the white and cream in each piece are shown clearly.

About sodalite

Sodalite takes its name from the sodium it contains. The blue is the sodalite itself, and the white veins are usually calcite, which runs through the stone in lines and patches so that no two pieces look alike. It is often mistaken for lapis lazuli, but sodalite has no gold pyrite, and its blue tends to run deeper and cooler, sometimes with a hint of violet.

Some sodalite glows orange under a longwave UV torch, though not every piece does, so it can be a fun one to try if you have a torch to hand.

Traditional correspondences

Sodalite is traditionally known as a stone of calm thinking, truth and clear communication. It is linked with the throat and third eye chakras, and is often reached for when the mind feels busy, when words need finding, or when you want to see a situation more clearly. A sodalite tower sits well on a desk, by a bedside or anywhere you study, write or meditate.

Correspondences are traditional and are offered as part of a practice, not as a substitute for medical or professional advice.

Caring for sodalite

Sodalite sits around 5.5 to 6 on the Mohs scale, a little softer than quartz, so keep your sodalite tower away from quartz points and tumblestones that could scratch it. It is best kept out of water and away from salt, as long soaking can dull the polish and the calcite veins. A dry soft cloth is all it needs. To cleanse, use sound, breath or moonlight.

What you receive
