Lunar Eclipse Crystals: A Grid for the Pisces Eclipse of 28 August

Lunar eclipse crystals, a grid you can actually build, and four ways to bend it to the practice you already have

The last eclipse of 2026 lands at 5.12am on Friday 28 August, and for once British skies get the good one. This is a working guide to lunar eclipse crystals for that morning. What to put where, what to say, and what to do with the stones afterwards.

    The Moon at a Glance

    • Eclipse maximum: 5.12am BST, Friday 28 August 2026
    • Full moon exact: 5.18am BST, the same morning
    • Degree: 4 degrees and 54 minutes of Pisces
    • Also: a deep partial lunar eclipse at the North Node, with ninety three per cent of the Moon’s diameter in the dark inner shadow
    • Best window: 3.33am to 5.30am, or any time on the Friday if that hour is not happening
    • Where to look: low in the west and southwest

    The short version

Friday 28 August. Set an alarm for 3.30am if you want the whole thing, or 5am if you want the best of it. Look west and southwest, low. The Moon goes copper, then sets while still in shadow at around 6.30am.

Cleanse yes, charge no. An eclipse suits taking away rather than putting in, so cleansing on this moon is fine and many people prefer it. Hold off on charging until the next full moon with no shadow in it, which is Saturday 26 September.

Four stones will build the grid. Clear quartz, moonstone, fluorite, smoky quartz. Everything below that is an upgrade, not a requirement.

When to be awake, and where to look

All times are British Summer Time. The Moon is low and dropping the whole way through, so a clear view towards the west and southwest matters more than anything else you do. A hedge in that direction will cost you the eclipse. This is worth checking in daylight on the Thursday rather than finding out at half past three in the morning.

    • 2.23am. The outer shadow arrives. Around twenty five degrees up in the south southwest. A faint dulling on one edge. Honestly, you can skip this bit.
    • 3.33am. The real bite starts. Around twenty degrees up in the southwest. This is where it becomes obvious to the naked eye.
    • 5.12am. Maximum. Around ten degrees above the horizon in the west southwest, deep in shadow, with the sky already lifting towards dawn behind you.
    • Around 6.30am. The Moon sets, still eclipsed.

Those altitudes are worked out for Shropshire. Anywhere in Britain or Ireland is within a degree or two, with the far south west holding the Moon slightly higher and Scotland slightly lower. On paper the eclipse ends at 6.51am, but from here the Moon has already gone. We get the build and the maximum and then it is taken off us, which is a fitting shape for this one.

Ninety three per cent of the Moon’s diameter goes into the dark inner shadow, and the part inside it turns copper. That colour is sunlight bent through the whole ring of the Earth’s atmosphere, every sunrise and sunset on the planet at once, landing on the Moon. The sliver left outside stays bright, which is what makes a deep partial look stranger than a total. Your eye keeps trying to correct for it and cannot. The Royal Observatory Greenwich has the observing detail if you want the astronomy on its own.

A total eclipse looks like something has happened. A deep partial looks like something is happening and has not finished.

Lunar eclipse crystals and the charging question

Every eclipse, the same argument goes round. Put your stones out. Never put your stones out. Both delivered with total confidence, neither one carrying a source.

    Nobody can source either rule

Leaving crystals under moonlight is a modern habit. It does not turn up in the old lapidary writing, which was far more interested in what a stone did when it was worn, powdered or set into metal. The rule that eclipse light is somehow contaminated is more recent still and circulates almost entirely online. Both positions are sincerely held. Both were invented within living memory.

    What we would actually do

Here is the line we hold, and it splits the question in two rather than answering it with a yes or a no.

Cleansing is fine. An eclipse is a shadow, and a shadow suits taking something away. If clearing a stone is what you are after, this is a good night for it and plenty of people choose an eclipse deliberately.

Charging is the one to hold off on. Not because the light is spoiled, but because the condition of the Moon decides what a working does, and an eclipse is not a night you can read cleanly. Put the charging off until the next full moon with no shadow anywhere near it, which is Saturday 26 September.

The argument against is duller and more real. It is 5.12am, it is a Friday, and the grass will be soaking. Selenite and satin spar will fog and eventually pit on wet ground. Lepidolite and howlite are soft enough to mark. Those go on an indoor windowsill facing west and the quartz family goes outside. That is a decision about materials rather than about spirits, and materials are the thing actually worth having a rule about.

The one rule we would keep. Do not push an intention into a stone at an eclipse the way you might at an ordinary full moon. Eclipses hold instructions badly. Set the stone to hold a question instead, and come back to it at the next ordinary full moon on Saturday 26 September to see what the question has turned into.

If you did the Leo ritual on 12 August

The new moon post two weeks ago asked anyone doing that ritual to write one line, fold it, put it under a stone and leave it there until this morning. This is that morning, so here is the other half of the instruction.

Take the paper out before you build anything and read it once. If the sentence is still true, burn it safely or bury it. If it has quietly stopped being true, which happens far more often than people expect, throw it away without any ceremony at all. Both of those are correct endings and neither one is the better outcome.

Then, if you want the grid as well, carry on below. The line you wrote in Leo is a reasonable candidate for the question you say aloud at 5.12am, though it does not have to be.

    The Eclipse Circuit

The grid is built on the three points that are actually doing something in the sky that morning, rather than on a general list of eclipse stones. A Focus Stone at the centre, three Way Stones set to those three points, and an outer ring of six. Ten stones, which is a full count folding back to one, and a fair way to think about a crossing.

The Eclipse Circuit. Solid lines carry the centre out to the three Way Stones. Dashed lines carry each Way Stone on to three stones in the outer ring. Nothing in the outer ring takes anything from the centre directly.

    The three points, quickly

The Moon is at four degrees and fifty four minutes of Pisces, the Sun at the same degree of Virgo. Virgo is the sorting, the checking, the competence you already have. Pisces is the part that does not sort and cannot be measured.

Then Uranus, at five degrees and thirty seven minutes of Gemini, sitting at a right angle to both of them inside a single degree. That is the detail most eclipse write ups will miss and the one you will actually feel. Uranus in that spot arrives as information. A message, a piece of news, something said in passing that reorganises a week. With the eclipse falling before dawn, a fair amount of it may land as broken sleep and a mind that will not settle rather than as any event at all. Worth naming in advance so it does not get mistaken for something being wrong with you.

    Choosing your Focus Stone

There is no single correct stone for the centre and anyone insisting otherwise is usually selling that stone. Three options, and what each one changes.

    Clear quartz, the first choice

Clear quartz holds the centre because this chart has no committed direction in it. Pisces answers traditionally to Jupiter and in modern practice to Neptune, and Neptune has already moved on into Aries, so the Moon sits in a sign its modern ruler has left. An uncommitted centre matches that. Clear quartz also takes a spoken word better than anything else in the grid, which matters for the practice further down. A point, a sphere or one tumblestone all work. Size is irrelevant.

Amethyst, if this is landing as feeling

Amethyst is the swap when the days around an eclipse arrive as mood rather than as events, which with a Pisces Moon is likely. It slows the centre down. Choose it if you already know your response to an eclipse is to feel a great deal and do very little, and you would rather that were held than fixed.

    Labradorite, for the crossing itself

Labradorite goes in when what you want is the threshold rather than either side of it, the flash of colour that only shows at one angle. It turns the grid from a holding pattern into a doorway. Use it if you are genuinely mid decision about something.

And if a piece of moldavite is already in the house

Moldavite sits happily in the centre against that Uranus square, since both are in the business of arriving without warning. It is named last on purpose. Nobody needs it, the grid works without it, and a circuit built around a scarce stone is a circuit most people cannot build.

    The three Way Stones

The Way Stones are the working layer. Nothing in the outer ring connects to the centre. Everything the centre holds passes through these three first, and each one changes it on the way through.

Moonstone, top, for the Pisces Moon

Moonstone takes the top because that is the eclipsed Moon itself. What it carries outward is the question as a feeling rather than as an instruction, which is the only form Pisces reliably passes on. It sits directly above the centre so the line between them is the shortest in the grid. Substitute selenite if you have no moonstone and accept that the circuit turns cooler and more architectural.

Fluorite, lower right, for the Sun and Mercury in Virgo

Fluorite holds the Virgo corner, where the Sun and Mercury sit together. Its job here is sorting. That end of the axis is the familiar, already mastered material, and the risk with it is never failure, it is repetition. Fluorite carries the discernment outward. Substitute sodalite, which does the same work more slowly and with more weight on what you say out loud.

Smoky quartz, lower left, for Uranus in Gemini

Smoky quartz takes the Uranus corner, and of the three this is the one to buy if you are only buying one. Uranus is the jolt, and smoky quartz carries it downward instead of letting it circle round your head at four in the morning. Substitute black obsidian or black tourmaline. Both are heavier and less forgiving, which some people prefer.

The outer ring, six stones in three pairs

Six stones alternating round the ring, so each Way Stone fans out to three of them. This is the cheapest part of the grid and tumblestones are entirely sufficient.

    • Two selenite, top and bottom, setting the edge of the circuit. Doing boundary work here rather than the cleansing work it usually gets used for.
    • Two sodalite, placed for the Gemini noise. This is where the fast verbal material collects instead of reaching the centre.
    • Two lepidolite, placed for the hour. The two nights either side of this are likely to be broken. Substitute howlite, which is easier to find and does much the same.

Short of stones, build the four stone version. Clear quartz in the centre, moonstone, fluorite and smoky quartz as the Way Stones, no outer ring at all. Same circuit with the edge left off. Clear quartz will also stand in at any position if you say out loud what it is standing in for as you set it down.

Five ways to bend the circuit

None of what follows is required, and that is rather the point. You already have a practice. It might be a candle and a cup of tea, or a deck you have used for twenty years, or a specific stone you carry without ever having decided to. The grid above is a shape. These five are ways of fitting your own practice into it rather than setting yours aside for the week. Take all five, take one, take none.

Venus, because it is a Friday

This one is specific to this eclipse and almost nobody will mention it. 28 August is a Friday, which is Venus’s day, and Venus that morning sits at twenty degrees of Libra, in her own sign, easily the most comfortable thing in an otherwise tense chart.

So there is one relaxed place to stand in all of this, and the traditional timing agrees with the chart for once, which does not happen often. Rose quartz is the obvious stone. Hold it rather than placing it, in the hand that is not holding the Focus Stone, and put it down when you are finished. Held rather than placed because the diagram is already full, and because the relief in this eclipse is something you carry rather than something you build into the structure. Green aventurine or unakite will do the same job if rose quartz is not something you get on with.

    Herbs at the Way Stones

If you keep a herb practice, this is where it goes. One dried sprig laid beside each Way Stone, not inside the circuit and not on top of the stone. Nothing here is for taking or drinking. It is placed, looked at, and cleared away afterwards.

    • Mugwort beside the moonstone. The long standing lunar and dreaming herb, and conveniently one of the few in this list still flowering on a Shropshire verge in late August.
    • Rosemary beside the fluorite. The remembering and sorting herb, which suits the Virgo corner, and the one most likely to already be in your kitchen.
    • Yarrow beside the smoky quartz. Steadying, and it grows in every rough edge and hedge bottom in the country at this time of year.

If you have none of them, a bay leaf from the cupboard beside all three is a perfectly respectable answer. It is the gesture of placing something living beside something mineral that is doing the work, not the species list.

A card face down under the centre

For anyone who reads. One card, chosen deliberately rather than drawn, placed face down beneath the Focus Stone and turned over on the Saturday morning when the grid comes apart.

The Virgo end of this axis is The Hermit and the Pisces end is The Moon. The Uranus corner is The Fool. Worth knowing that those planetary attributions come from the Golden Dawn in the 1890s rather than from anywhere ancient, which does not make them useless. It makes them about the same age as most of what we do, and they have been worked with by a great many people since, which is its own kind of weight.

If turning a chosen card over feels like cheating, draw one on the Friday morning instead and put it under the stone unread until Saturday. Either version works. Ours is not the practice that matters here.

The goddess of the month, and one stone already in the grid

August belongs to Diana in the older calendar correspondences, goddess of the hunt and of the moon, with her festival on 13 August. The Romans matched her to the Greek Artemis, and the moon end of that identification is the part that has stuck. August also carries holly and hazel as its trees and the poppy and gladiolus as its flowers, if you like to lay the month out properly.

The honest note is that a tidy one goddess per month calendar is an arrangement rather than an inheritance. Diana is genuinely old. So is Artemis. The neat table pairing each of them to a month, a tree, a flower and an angel was assembled a great deal later, out of Roman, Greek, Norse and Celtic pieces that never sat in one system while anybody was actually worshipping them. Both of those things can be true, and the table is still useful. It is a working index, not a lineage.

The good part is that you do not need to buy anything for this layer. Look at the selenite already sitting in your outer ring. Selenite takes its name from Selene, the Greek moon herself, by way of the old term for moon stone, and that naming is genuinely ancient rather than a modern invention. So the stone holding the top and bottom edge of your circuit is the one already carrying the goddess. Nothing moves. You simply know what it is doing.

If you want the layer to be audible rather than structural, say the name once as you set each piece of selenite down on the Thursday evening, and say nothing else about it. If you work with Arianrhod or another figure instead, use that name. The grid does not mind, and the point of a layer is that it is yours.

    The second harvest

The eclipse falls four weeks after Lughnasadh and a little under four weeks before the equinox on 23 September, which puts it squarely in the grain end of the year. If you keep the Wheel, this is the second harvest stretch, and a grid built at this point sits differently to one built in spring. Less about starting, more about what is worth carrying through.

The honest note is that the Wheel of the Year as a single eight festival calendar was assembled in the middle of the last century. The late August harvest in Britain, on the other hand, is genuinely old and genuinely local, and people in this country have been marking the end of the grain for as long as there has been grain. The season is ancient. The tidy diagram of it is recent. Both of those can be true at the same time.

Worth knowing what to call it, too. Most of the coverage this month will say Sturgeon Moon, which is a North American name that reached British use fairly recently. The older correspondence tables used here in Britain give August the Corn Moon, which for a late August grain harvest in Shropshire is the one that actually describes what is happening outside.

The practical version: bring one thing to the grid that came out of the ground this year. A seed head, a wheat stalk, a windfall apple. Put it beside the outer ring, not in it.

    The practice, around 5.12am

No imagery in this one. It runs on sound, breath and the weight of a stone in your hand, and it is written for the twenty minutes either side of maximum. If being awake at that hour is not happening, it works at any point on the Friday and loses very little.

Build the grid on the Thursday evening on a windowsill facing west. Leave the centre empty overnight, and keep the Focus Stone somewhere you will find it in the dark.

    • Sit with the empty grid and the Focus Stone closed in your hand. Feel the temperature of it change against your palm, and wait for that to stop changing before going on. It takes about two minutes and there is no way to hurry it.
    • Ring a bell or strike a bowl once. Do not follow the sound. Listen instead for the exact moment you can no longer hear it, and let that moment start the practice rather than the sound itself.
    • In the silence, say the question out loud. Not an intention, a question. Something beginning with what or how, that you do not already know the answer to. Say it twice.
    • Place the Focus Stone in the centre as you finish saying it the second time.
    • Breathe four times, slowly, with your free hand flat on your chest so the breath registers as movement under your palm rather than as a count.
    • Ring the bell once more and leave it there. Nothing gets closed off. The circuit stays open until the Moon sets.

Take the grid apart on Saturday morning, one stone at a time, ending with the centre. As you lift each one, say what it was holding. If nothing comes for a stone, put it down and move on. Inventing something for it is worse than leaving it silent.

What were you doing in August 2008

Eclipses run in families. Every eighteen years and eleven days or so, the same alignment comes back round, and Babylonian astronomers had that rhythm written down on clay tablets by the seventh century before the common era, along with the omens they read from it.

The last eclipse in this particular family fell on 16 August 2008. The next arrives on 7 September 2044. The naming is more recent than the counting, as usual. The word saros was fixed to eclipses by Edmond Halley at the end of the seventeenth century and the numbering that files this one as series 138 was worked out in the 1950s. Fred Espenak’s technical page carries the full figures.

The useful part is the date. August 2008. Most people can find something there without trying very hard, and whatever comes up first is generally the one worth looking at. That is not a mystical claim. It is just that eighteen years is roughly the distance at which a thing stops being a wound and becomes a story, and this eclipse is asking about direction of travel.

    Prompts for the days after

The Uranus contact means the useful material often turns up two or three days late, as news rather than as insight. Keep these somewhere findable rather than answering them all in one sitting.

    • What did I hear this week that I have not told anybody about yet.
    • Where am I being competent instead of being honest.
    • What did the question turn into by the time I had said it out loud twice.
    • What did I think was finished on 12 August that has come back round.
    • Which stone did I have nothing to say about, and why that one.

    Building the circuit

Every one of the lunar eclipse crystals named here is in the Grove, photographed as it is, so the piece in the picture is the piece that turns up. Clear quartz, moonstone, fluorite and smoky quartz will get you the working four stone version and tumblestones will cover the outer ring. Posted from Shropshire on tracked delivery. The eclipse is on the Friday, so the Monday post is the last comfortable one.

Full Flower Moon 2026: Scorpio’s Shadow Meets the Beltane Fires

A Grounded UK Guide to the Rare Beltane Full Moon Alignment

The Full Flower Moon 2026 rises in Scorpio on Friday 1 May, exactly on Beltane. A grounded guide to what is happening in the sky, the crystals to work with, and a simple ritual you can do at the kitchen table.

Full Flower Moon 2026 in Scorpio rising over a hawthorn hedgerow on Beltane night

There is a particular quality to the May hedgerow that the country walker knows in her body before she knows it in her head. The hawthorn is out. The blackthorn has finished. The bluebells have done their two week burn and are starting to fade. The whole green world has tipped over from waking up into being awake.

This is the air the Full Flower Moon 2026 rises into. She arrives on Friday 1 May at 9.23pm BST, sitting in Scorpio at 11°21′. The same evening Beltane lights her fires across the Wheel of the Year. The same evening the country has held as a fire festival for as long as anyone has bothered to remember.

It is not often that one of the great cross quarter festivals of the Wheel falls on the night of a Full Moon, and rarer still that the Moon herself is in Scorpio when she does. The two energies are doing very different work. Beltane wants you outside, in your body, in the warm light. Scorpio wants you honest about what is moving underneath. They do not cancel each other out. They make a strange and useful pair for one night.

The May Full Moon in Scorpio is also a Micro Moon, the furthest of the year from earth, and the first of two Full Moons in May. Fifteen days from this peak, on 31 May, the Blue Moon in Sagittarius arrives to close the chapter. What you sit with on Friday night is the seed of what releases at the end of the month.

What is Actually Happening This Year

The 2026 Full Flower Moon is technically a Micromoon. She sits at apogee, her furthest point from earth in her orbit, and will appear slightly smaller and softer in the sky than an average Full Moon. The energy follows the form. Micromoons tend to feel less dramatic and more internal than the big perigee Supermoons. For a Scorpio Full Moon to arrive in Micro form is fitting. The work she invites is the quiet kind.

The peak is at 9.23pm BST on Friday 1 May. The most charged window for ritual work is the four to six hours after that exact peak, which means anything from 9.23pm through to the early hours of Saturday morning is the working window for the night.

And there is one more layer. May 2026 is a rare two Full Moon month. The Blue Moon in Sagittarius arrives on 31 May at 9.45am BST at 9°56′. So this Flower Moon is opening a thirty day chapter that closes with one of the most expansive lunations of the year. The Scorpio Moon asks you to name the truth. The Sagittarius Blue Moon asks what you are going to do about it. Hold the two of them as one arc.

Beltane and the Scorpio Moon, the Odd Pair

Beltane is one of the most embodied festivals on the Wheel of the Year. Bonfires, hawthorn flowers, the maypole, bare feet on warm grass, the leaping of fires for blessing. She lives in the body, in the senses, in the pleasure of being alive. She is not subtle.

Scorpio is the opposite kind of energy. She is the most internal of the water signs, the bit of you that knows things before you have admitted them out loud. A Full Moon in Scorpio always brings up what has been kept quiet, even if you were not aware you were keeping it quiet.

When you put them together, you get something rare. Beltane gives you permission to actually feel pleasure in your body and enjoy being alive. Scorpio asks you to be honest about what you find when you do. Most of the year we celebrate without being too truthful, or we get truthful but lose the ability to celebrate. This Moon is asking for both at once.

Most of the year we celebrate without being too truthful, or we get truthful but lose the ability to celebrate. This Moon is asking for both at once.

A Simple Ritual for the Flower Moon

This is the heart of the Moon. Everything else in this piece holds her in context, but the ritual is where the work lives. Build it for the hours immediately after the Full Moon goes exact at 9.23pm BST on Friday 1 May. If you can be outside for any part of it, that is a gift. If not, a windowsill with a view of the sky is enough.

There are two versions below. The first is the full altar version, suited to anyone who has the time and the inclination to settle into a longer working. The second is the kitchen table version, which uses what is already in your house and takes ten minutes. Both honour the same alignment. The Moon does not measure the gesture by what it cost.

Version one | The full altar ritual

    What you will need

    • A white candle for Beltane and a black or deep red candle for Scorpio
    • A small heatproof bowl
    • A piece of paper and a pen
    • One or more of the crystals listed below. Moonstone, Labradorite or Selenite if you can choose
    • A sprig of hawthorn or any white blossom from a hedge or garden
    • A stick of incense if you have one. Frankincense, sandalwood or rose

    The ritual

Light the white candle first. As the flame catches, name aloud or in your head what you are celebrating about this season of your life. What has bloomed. What has come back to you. What you can feel growing. Take your time. Beltane is not a sign that asks for haste.

Light the black or red candle next. As the second flame catches, ask yourself the Scorpio question. What is the truth I have not let myself say? Sit with whatever rises. There is no need to write it down yet. The point is to feel it without flinching.

When you are ready, write the truth on the paper. One or two sentences. Keep it simple.

Hold your crystal in your dominant hand. Read the truth back to yourself, slowly, three times. The first reading is for acknowledging it. The second is for honouring it. The third is for letting it go.

Light the corner of the paper from the black candle. Let it burn safely in the heatproof bowl. As it burns, watch the smoke rise. Beltane carries the truth out into the world. Scorpio releases what you have been holding.

When the paper has burned to ash, blow out the candles in the order you lit them. White first, then black. In the morning, take the ash outside and return it to the earth. The base of a hedge or a tree, a wild patch on your walk, a windowbox if you have one.

Leave your crystal on the windowsill overnight to charge in the moonlight.

Version two | The kitchen table ritual

This is for anyone who does not have an altar set up, who does not want to buy something new for one ritual, or who simply wants the ten minute version. Your kitchen holds enough.

    What you will need

    • One candle. Any candle. A tea light from the bottom drawer is fine
    • A small bowl or saucer
    • A piece of paper and a pen
    • A pinch of salt
    • Whatever crystal you have, if you have one

    The ritual

Sit at your kitchen table. Light the candle. Place the bowl in front of you with the pinch of salt in the bottom. Salt has carried cleansing in folk practice across most of Europe for centuries. She does the same job here.

Hold the crystal if you have one. Hold your own hand if you do not. Speak the Beltane question first. What am I celebrating tonight? Then the Scorpio question. What truth have I been keeping quiet?

Write whatever surfaces on the paper. Fold it twice. Tear off one corner and burn that corner over the candle, dropping the ash into the bowl with the salt. The rest of the paper goes in the bin in the morning, and the salt and ash go onto the soil of a houseplant or out into the garden.

That is the whole ritual. Ten minutes. Done at the kitchen table with a candle and a bowl. The Moon receives it as fully as she receives the longer version.

It is not a Moon for performing. It is a Moon for arriving. Wherever you arrive, the answer is yes.

The Crystals for the Flower Moon

Six crystals carry this Moon particularly well. Each does a slightly different job, and they layer beautifully if you have several. If you only have one, choose by feel rather than by list. And if you have none, the kitchen table ritual works without them. The whole Mystic Grove crystal collection is here when you are ready.

Each of these stones has qualities that have been recognised across many cultures and over long stretches of time. We work with them here within the rhythm of the Wheel of the Year, holding their wider lineages with respect rather than claim.

    Moonstone

Moonstone is the one I always reach for first on a Full Moon night. The Romans believed she was made of solidified moonbeams, and both Greeks and Romans associated her directly with their lunar deities. In Sri Lanka and India she has been venerated for at least two thousand years as a sacred stone of the moon, set traditionally on the brow of lunar deities and carried as a stone of intuition and night travel.

Most commercial moonstone today comes from Sri Lanka, with the finest blue flash variety historically from Myanmar, where she is known as Mukdahan. The qualities people have recognised in her, the lunar tuning, the soft adularescence that catches the light like the moon catches it, the association with cycles and intuition, are extraordinarily consistent across the cultures who have known her.

For the Scorpio Flower Moon she takes the edge off the intensity. Where Scorpio can feel airless, Moonstone reminds you that emotion comes in waves, the wave will pass, and the Moon herself returns to the same point every month. Hold her while you ask the harder question. Browse Moonstone at Mystic Grove.

    Labradorite

Labradorite was first identified in 1770 by Moravian missionaries on the Labrador peninsula in Canada, though the Innu and Inuit peoples of that land had known her long before. Innu legend holds that the northern lights were once trapped inside the rocks of the Labrador coast, and that a warrior struck the rocks with his spear and freed most of the lights into the sky, leaving the remainder caught inside what we now call Labradorite. The flash you see when you turn her in the light is the part of the aurora she still holds.

She is for intuition, for dream work, and for the place where the seen and the unseen meet, which is a description of Scorpio if there ever was one. Hold her in your dominant hand during the moments of the ritual when you ask the deeper question. Her flash of blue and gold under the dark surface is also a useful visual reminder of what Scorpio actually is. Depth that holds light at the heart of it. Browse Labradorite at Mystic Grove.

    Selenite

Selenite takes her name from Selene, the Greek goddess of the moon. She has been worked since antiquity, and translucent slabs of her were used in temple windows in ancient Rome to let in a soft, lunar quality of light, which is where the original Roman name lapis specularis came from. Selene’s stone, mirror stone, the moon’s own glass.

She is your cleanser through any lunar work. She does not need recharging herself, she does not need looking after, and she will clear whatever you put on her. After the ritual, lay your other crystals on a piece of Selenite to clear what they picked up during the working. She is also the easiest stone to charge in moonlight. A tower on the windowsill catches the moonbeams and holds them through the next month. Browse Selenite at Mystic Grove.

    Black Tourmaline

Black Tourmaline, known in mineralogy as Schorl, has been used as a protective stone in folk practice across Europe and Asia for centuries. Mediaeval sources describe her being placed at the four corners of a working space, and she still does the same job today. Her crystal structure is what mineralogists call pyroelectric, meaning she carries a small electrical charge when warmed, which may be part of why people have intuitively turned to her as a stone of grounding and energetic clearing for so long.

For Scorpio work she is essential. When the deeper question gets asked and the body starts answering with old grief or memory you had forgotten about, Black Tourmaline keeps you anchored. She does not stop the work happening. She makes it safer to do. Place a piece at each corner of the altar, or carry one in your pocket through the evening. Browse Tourmaline at Mystic Grove.

    Rose Quartz

Rose Quartz is one of the oldest worked stones in the human record. Beads have been recovered from sites in the ancient Near East dating to around 7000 BCE. The Greeks held her as a stone of Aphrodite, who became Venus to the Romans, and she has been associated with the heart and with gentleness across many cultures since.

She is the Beltane half of this alignment. Where Scorpio asks for truth, Beltane asks for love, and Rose Quartz lets the truth be received gently rather than harshly. She softens the field around the working so that whatever surfaces can be met with kindness rather than judgement. The stone that says, whatever comes up tonight, I will not be cruel to myself about it. Browse Rose Quartz at Mystic Grove.

    Obsidian

Obsidian is volcanic glass, born of fire meeting cold and cooled before crystals could form. She has been worked across many cultures for tools, weapons and scrying mirrors, with John Dee’s famous obsidian mirror in the British Museum a 16th century example of the latter. The Aztec and Mayan peoples of central America held her as a stone of the underworld and of unflinching sight, and her qualities of cutting through illusion have been recognised independently in many other lineages.

She is for the practitioner ready for the most direct version of Scorpio work. If there is something specific you have been avoiding looking at, Obsidian will ask you to look. Use her with care and only if you are ready. She is not a stone for soothing. She is a stone for truth, and there is a difference. Browse Obsidian at Mystic Grove.

An Ancestral Note on the Beltane Fires

Beltane fires were once lit on every hilltop in Ireland and Scotland on the eve of 1 May. Cattle were driven between two fires for blessing on the way to summer pasture. Couples leapt the fires for fertility. The folklorist Frederick Marian McNeill recorded that in some Highland communities into the early 20th century, every household hearth was extinguished on Beltane Eve and relit only from a coal carried from the communal need fire on the hill.

The same fires that once travelled by hand from hilltop to home are the fires this Moon lights now. Whatever scale you keep them at, you are keeping a very old flame. A single candle on a kitchen table is enough.

Journal Prompts for the Days Around the Moon

The energy of the Flower Moon does not arrive only on the evening she peaks. It builds in the days before her and softens for a few days after. The prompts below are for working through the whole window, from late April into the first week of May. Pick one prompt per evening. Write for ten minutes without stopping. The point is not to be eloquent. The point is to be honest.

    • What has come into bloom in my life that I have not noticed?
    • What truth has been stirring that I have been keeping quiet?
    • If I let myself live fully in my body this month, what would change?
    • Which relationship is asking for honesty rather than smoothing over?
    • What desire have I been pretending not to feel?
    • What old grief is asking to be honoured before I let it go?
    • If Beltane gives me permission to celebrate, what am I celebrating?
    • If Scorpio asks for the truth, what am I avoiding?

Herbs, Oils and Candles to Layer With

If you would like to deepen the ritual with the wider apothecary of the season, here are some traditional correspondences that sit naturally alongside the Flower Moon. Use what you have to hand. None of this is required. All of it is welcome.

    Herbs and flowers

    • Hawthorn, the May tree herself, blooming exactly now and the gateway plant of Beltane
    • Mugwort, traditional for Scorpio and the thinning veil between worlds
    • Rose petals, for Venus and the heart
    • Rosemary, for cleansing and remembering
    • Yarrow, for Scorpio protection and the folk magic of the season
    • Vervain, the Beltane procession herb of these islands
    • Meadowsweet, for sweetness and the gentler half of the alignment

    Essential oils

A drop of the right oil will lift any ritual into another register. Browse the essential oils and blends at Mystic Grove, and consider these for the Scorpio Flower Moon.

    • Frankincense, for sacred fire and the deeper reach of Scorpio
    • Myrrh, the underworld oil, for honest sitting with what surfaces
    • Rose, for the Beltane heart
    • Sandalwood, for grounded presence through the working
    • Patchouli, for the deep earth and Scorpio’s underground rivers
    • Hawthorn, when you can find her, for the Beltane lineage

    Candles

Candle colour carries its own quiet language. Our ritual candle collection sits in the wider Mystic Grove candle range, and these colours are the ones aligned with this Moon.

    • White, for Beltane and the Full Moon
    • Black, for Scorpio and the work of release
    • Deep red, for the Beltane fire and the heart of Scorpio
    • Silver, for lunar work and the Goddess
    • Pink, for Venus and the gentle heart

Light any single candle from this list during the ritual. Anoint it with one drop of any oil from the list. Sit a small handful of any herb at the base. The combinations are yours to build from what you have, and the Moon receives whatever is offered with the same patient grace.

    Frequently Asked Questions

What date is the Full Flower Moon 2026?

The Full Flower Moon 2026 falls on Friday 1 May at 9.23pm BST in the UK. She rises in Scorpio at 11°21′ and is a Micromoon, sitting at apogee, her furthest point from earth in her orbit. She is also the first of two Full Moons in May, with the second arriving on 31 May as a Blue Moon in Sagittarius. The 1 May date means this Flower Moon falls on Beltane itself, an unusual alignment that does not come along often.

What is the spiritual meaning of the Flower Moon in Scorpio?

The Flower Moon in Scorpio brings together two distinct energies. The Flower Moon herself is the May Full Moon traditionally associated with bloom, fertility and the noticing of what has survived the winter. Scorpio is the most internal of the water signs and is associated with honest emotion, hidden truth, and the surfacing of what has been kept quiet. Together they ask the practitioner to celebrate what has bloomed in her life while being honest about what is moving underneath.

What is a Beltane Full Moon and why is it rare?

A Beltane Full Moon is a Full Moon that falls on or close to Beltane, the cross quarter fire festival of the Wheel of the Year on 1 May. The alignment is rare because the lunar cycle and the solar calendar move at different rates, and a Full Moon falling exactly on a major festival day happens only every few years. The 2026 Beltane Full Moon is particularly significant because she lands on the festival itself and is in Scorpio, which adds a layer of depth and emotional honesty to the celebration.

What crystals work best for a Scorpio Full Moon?

The crystals most associated with Scorpio Full Moon work are Moonstone for lunar tuning, Labradorite for intuition and dream work, Selenite for cleansing, Black Tourmaline for grounding, Rose Quartz for the gentle heart, and Obsidian for the most direct truth work. For the 2026 Flower Moon, layering Moonstone with Labradorite is particularly powerful because both stones bridge the seen and the unseen in different ways.

How do I do a Full Moon ritual at home?

A Full Moon ritual at home does not have to be elaborate. The simplest version uses one candle, a piece of paper, and ten minutes at your kitchen table. Light the candle. Name what you are celebrating. Name what you are releasing. Write the release on the paper, burn a corner of it safely, and return the ash to the earth in the morning. The longer altar version layers in two candles, crystals, herbs and incense, but the gesture is the same. The Moon receives both versions equally.

Every crystal at Mystic Grove is hand selected before she leaves the bench, dispatched in protective packaging from Mystic Grove HQ.

January 2026 Moon Ritual Guide: From Intuition to Ambition

Welcome to 2026. As we step across the threshold into a new year the energy often feels like a mix of exhaustion and exhilaration. We are leaving behind the lessons of the last twelve months and looking ahead to a fresh chapter.

January arrives with a distinct duality in its cosmic signature. It is a month that asks us to feel deeply before we attempt to build steadily. We begin the new year under the watery and intuitive light of the Cancer Moon yet we end it with our feet firmly planted in the earth of Capricorn and Taurus. This transition from water to earth is significant. It suggests that our success in 2026 depends entirely on our ability to manage our emotional wellbeing first.

The journey of the Moon this month includes distinct phases that guide us from an emotional release of the past year into the structural planning of the new one. It is a time to trust your instincts honour your need for rest and then lay the foundations for your empire.

To help you navigate these shifts I have created a detailed ritual guide. Below you will find the key lunar dates and the specific tools you need to harness this energy effectively.

    The January Lunar Rituals

3 January: The Wolf Moon Release

The first Full Moon of 2026 rises in the sensitive sign of Cancer. In ancient traditions this is known as the Wolf Moon a time when wolves would howl outside villages in the cold winter air. Spiritually it represents a time to trust your primal instincts and protect your pack.

This Moon is bringing a mix of high energy and deep emotions because it is triggering both Mars (action) and Jupiter (expansion). You might feel a sudden urge to “turn the corner” on 2025. If you are still carrying heaviness or grudges from the holidays this is your cosmic permission slip to release them.

How to Perform the Fire Ceremony:

    1. Cleanse: Start by cleansing your aura and your space with your chosen Cleansing Tool (Sage or Palo Santo). Visualise the smoke clearing away the stagnant energy of the old year.
    2. Ignite: Light your Full Moon Candle. As the flame flickers set the intention to let go of the past.
    3. Connect: Hold a piece of Moonstone in your hand. This stone connects deeply with Cancerian energy and acts as an emotional anchor.
    4. Write & Burn: Write down your upsets doubts or resentments on a piece of paper. As taught in Moonology forgiveness is the key to manifesting. Safely burn the paper (or tear it up) to release the energy back to the universe.
    5. Close: Blow out your candle and wash your hands in cold water to break the energetic connection.
    10 January: The Abundance Check-In

The Last Quarter Moon in Libra usually signals a time to release and rebalance. However the cosmos has gifted us a very special alignment this week. Venus the planet of love and money is connecting with the Sun Mars and Jupiter.

This creates a powerful window for abundance. If one of your New Year’s resolutions is to improve your finances or attract love this is the moment to get serious about it. “Love and riches are in the air” so do not let this energy pass you by.

    How to Ritualise for Abundance:

    1. Clarify: Sit in a quiet space with your Gold Foil Tarot Deck or a trusted Oracle Deck.
    2. Ask: Shuffle the cards while asking the universe: “What is currently blocking my flow of abundance?”
    3. Reflect: Pull a card and journal on its meaning. Are you holding onto scarcity mindsets? Are you undervalued in your work?
    4. Manifest: Light a Manifestation Spell Candle (Green or Gold works best here) and visualise your bank account growing. Speak your abundance affirmation aloud three times.
15–17 January: The Dark Moon Rest

Before we can build our empire we must rest our spirit. The Dark Moon is the phase just before the New Moon when the sky is completely black. It represents the void—the fertile soil in which seeds are planted.

In our modern world we are taught to push constantly. But nature teaches us that growth requires dormancy. Do not try to manifest during these three days. Instead use this time to recharge your battery so you are ready for the Capricorn energy that follows.

    How to Embrace the Void:

    1. Disconnect: Turn off your phone and dim the lights. This is a time for digital detox.
    2. Protect: Place a Selenite Tower or wand near you. Selenite brings a high vibrational peace that is perfect for deep sleep and dreaming.
    3. Float: Lie down comfortably and close your eyes. Visualise yourself floating in a velvet darkness completely supported by the universe.
    4. Affirm: Whisper the affirmation: I do not need to earn my rest. I am recharging for my new chapter.
18 January: The Architect’s New Moon

Here it is. The true energetic start of your 2026 work. The New Moon arrives in the ambitious and disciplined sign of Capricorn. While the Cancer Moon was about feeling the Capricorn Moon is about doing.

This is the Architect’s Moon. In the darkness we plant the seeds of our career our legacy and our long term goals. It is time to create a 12-month work plan and set intentions that are solid and achievable.

How to Create Your Legacy List:

    1. Prepare: Open a fresh Journal dedicated to your 2026 goals.
    2. Focus: Light your New Moon Manifestation Candle to signify the start of this new chapter.
    3. Ground: Keep a piece of Red Jasper or Garnet nearby. These stones provide the stamina and grounding needed for Capricorn ambition.
    4. Write: Write your “Legacy List.” Instead of writing wishes like “I want a new job” write them as if they are already happening: “I am running a successful business.”
    5. Commit: Sign your name at the bottom of the page. You are making a contract with the Universe.

  • October Moon Phases 2025

    October Moon Phases 2025

The Moon, the Feminine and the Crystals

The October moon phases carry a quiet kind of beauty. The air feels different, the light softens, and the world slows just enough for us to notice what we have been missing. It is the month when the veil between seen and unseen thins, and the Moon seems to glow more brightly against the dark.

This is a time for reflection and gentle transformation. Each phase of the Moon brings a lesson in how to move through change without fear. The sky will guide us through illumination, rest, renewal, and release, and each step is a mirror for what we hold within ourselves.

I have added links to the crystals that I am working with this month so you can explore them in our Mystic Grove collection if they call to you. They have been chosen for their vibration and the way they flow with October’s rhythm. Together they support peace, courage, and clarity.

Understanding the Nine Moon Phases in October

The Moon’s rhythm in October unfolds through nine beautiful phases, each lasting about three or four days. These are not fixed moments, but tides of energy that flow gently from one to the next.

The sky is still and dark. This is the space where seeds of intention are planted.
Crystals: Clear Quartz for clarity, Labradorite for transformation, Moonstone for intuition.

Emotions rise and everything comes into focus. This is the moment of truth.
    Crystals: AmethystMoonstoneClear Quartz.

Dark Moon – 20 to 21 October (in Libra)
The sacred pause before renewal. Nothing to do, nowhere to be.
Crystals: Black Tourmaline for cleansing, Selenite for spiritual light.

Working With Your Crystals Through October’s Moon Phases

The crystals listed in Understanding the Nine moon Phases form the base set for October. These are your steady lunar companions, the stones that align with each phase of the Moon and help you stay attuned to her rhythm. You can keep them in a small bowl, pouch, or on your altar as a complete cycle, allowing their energy to guide you through each stage.

The crystals mentioned below in The Journey Through October are additional companions chosen for this month’s unique alignments. They build upon the base set, supporting the energies of the Full Moon in Aries, the 10 10 Portal, the Libra New Moon, and Samhain. Think of them as monthly accents, stones that help you fine tune your connection to the Moon’s changing song.

Together these two layers create balance. The base stones carry the consistent rhythm of the lunar cycle, while the monthly companions mirror the melody of the moment. You can work with one or both depending on what you feel drawn to. The key is not to collect but to connect.

    The Divine Feminine

The Moon is the oldest teacher of the Divine Feminine. She expands and contracts just as we do. Her light grows strong then fades into darkness, reminding us that both strength and rest are necessary.

During the waxing Moon we are guided to create, build, and express. During the waning Moon we learn to release, reflect, and trust. This flow is not linear. It is the same rhythm found in breath, tide, and heart.

Working with her energy is less about control and more about awareness. When you follow her phases, you learn the art of timing, when to act, when to rest, and when to let go.

Crystals help to anchor this understanding. Amethyst lifts awareness toward intuition. Rose Quartz opens the heart to compassion. Obsidian grounds us when emotions swell. Each one carries a frequency that aligns with a part of this cycle. Together they create a bridge between intention and embodiment.

The Journey Through October’s Moon Phases

1 to 5 October | Aquarius to Pisces Moon
The month begins under the Aquarius Moon which sharpens the mind and encourages new ideas. Try to listen more than you speak and give space for insight to form. Fluorite clears mental noise and Amethyst soothes restless thoughts.

By the 4th, the Moon moves into Pisces and emotions deepen. It is a beautiful time for creativity, dreaming, and meditation. Moonstone helps you trust intuition and Celestite opens connection to the Divine.

6 to 12 October | Full Moon in Aries and the 10 10 Portal
The Full Moon in Aries on 7 October 2025 lights the sky with courage and raw truth. It brings action and sometimes impatience. Pause before reacting and breathe before deciding. Use Carnelian for confidence, Red Jasper for grounding, and Clear Quartz to amplify strength.

On 10 October, the 10 10 Portal opens, marked by angel number 1010. It represents divine alignment and a chance to reset direction. Write ten things you are grateful for and ten intentions for the rest of the year. Citrine brings joy to the process, Labradorite supports transformation, and Pyrite inspires focus.

As the Moon passes through Taurus and Gemini, life lightens. Taurus helps us slow down and appreciate comfort, while Gemini opens conversation and learning.

13 to 19 October | Last Quarter in Cancer and Virgo Order
The Last Quarter Moon in Cancer on 13 October is about healing and forgiveness. Family themes may rise, or you might feel more sensitive. Moonstone and Amazonite encourage emotional balance and gentle communication.

By the 17th, Virgo energy takes over. Organise, clear, and prepare for the new cycle ahead. Smoky Quartz grounds your focus and Fluorite clears the mind for practical progress.

20 to 26 October | Libra New Moon and Scorpio Depths
The Dark Moon in Libra on 20 October is a time to rest and release. The New Moon follows on 21 October, calling for harmony and connection. It is a beautiful time to renew love and balance. Rose Quartz, Green Aventurine, and Kunzite support the heart.

When the Moon shifts into Scorpio on the 23rd, emotions deepen again. Transformation is close, so take time to listen to your intuition. Labradorite helps guide this process, while Malachite supports emotional release.

27 to 31 October | First Quarter in Aquarius and Samhain
The First Quarter Moon in Aquarius on 29 October encourages creativity and steady movement. It is the phase of action, when new ideas from the Libra New Moon begin to take form. Fluorite and Aquamarine help keep communication clear.

Samhain arrives on 31 October, the night when the veil between worlds is at its thinnest. It is the Celtic New Year, a time to honour ancestors and thank the year that has passed. Light a candle, speak names of those who came before you, and feel the peace that follows. Obsidian offers protection, Amethyst strengthens spiritual connection, and Smoky Quartz anchors you to the present.

When you begin a new phase, hold one stone that feels right and take a quiet breath. Ask it to remind you of your intention for the week.

    Ritual Focus and Reflection

Full Moon in Aries (7 Oct): Write down what you wish to release. Speak it once, thank it, and burn or bury it safely.
10 10 Portal (10 Oct): Write ten blessings and ten goals. Keep the list in your journal until the end of the year.
New Moon in Libra (21 Oct): Set intentions for harmony and self worth. Light a candle for balance.
Samhain (31 Oct): Light a candle for your ancestors. Write one thing you are grateful for this year and one lesson you will carry forward.

    Closing Thoughts

October moves between light and shadow like a breath. Each phase teaches something about rhythm, when to act, when to rest, and when to let go. The Moon reminds us that we are cyclical beings, not meant to live at a constant pace.

Work with the stones that speak to you, trust your timing, and remember that alignment is not forced. It unfolds naturally when you stay open. The Divine Feminine teaches that rest is just as sacred as creation, and both belong to the same flow.

Be kind to yourself. Be gentle with the process. Let the Moon lead and you will always find your way back to balance.
