Pure neroli essential oil is steam distilled from the freshly picked flowers of Citrus aurantium var. amara, the bitter orange tree. This is the undiluted form of one of the most precious and celebrated floral essential oils in the world. Neroli has been used in perfumery since the 17th century and remains a cornerstone ingredient in both traditional and modern fragrance creation.
Pure neroli essential oil has an exquisitely complex floral aroma that combines sweet, fresh, and slightly honeyed notes with a distinctive green, slightly bitter edge from the orange blossom flowers. It is simultaneously delicate and intense, with a long-lasting dry-down that reveals warm, slightly spicy undertones. The main aromatic constituents include linalool, linalyl acetate, nerolidol, and geraniol. It requires a very large quantity of orange blossom flowers to produce a small amount of oil, which contributes to its premium price.
