Rosewood essential oil is steam distilled from the wood of Aniba rosaeodora (also known as Aniba rosadeurodora), an endangered tree native to the Amazon rainforest, found mainly in Brazil and Peru. Due to the significant environmental concerns surrounding the destruction of Amazon rosewood trees, sustainably sourced rosewood oil certified as coming from legally operated plantations should be sought. This oil carries a responsibility to support sustainable sourcing.
Rosewood essential oil has a warm, sweet, floral, and softly woody aroma with creamy, rose-like, and slightly spicy undertones. The dominant constituent is linalool, typically present at over 80%, which is responsible for the smooth, refined floral-woody character that makes rosewood so valued in both aromatherapy and natural perfumery.
