The next full moon

Tuesday 24 November 2026 at 2.54pm

UK time (GMT). Look east at moonrise on Tuesday evening. Work with it from Monday to Wednesday night.

November’s full moon is the Beaver Moon, and in 2026 it is a supermoon, one of three this year, looking a little bigger and brighter than usual as it rises over the rooftops. The exact moment falls in the middle of Tuesday afternoon, so the moment to look up is as it rises in the east around sunset that evening. This year it sits in Gemini, the sign of the twins, opposite a Sagittarius Sun. It is a full moon for clearing your head, saying the thing you have been meaning to say, and thanking the people who make your days lighter.

Last year’s Beaver Moon fell on 5 November 2025, in Taurus. Full moon dates move from year to year because the Moon’s month is a little shorter than our calendar months, so always check the year at the top of a moon guide. Our moon guides are sorted by year to make that easy.

What Is a Supermoon?

The Moon’s path around the Earth is not a perfect circle. Once a month it swings a little closer to us, and once a month a little further away. A supermoon is simply a full moon that happens when the Moon is near its closest point. It can look a little larger and noticeably brighter than an ordinary full moon, especially as it rises low on the horizon, framed by trees and buildings.

The difference is real but gentle, so do not expect the Moon to fill the sky. The best way to enjoy it is to watch it rise: step outside around 4pm on Tuesday, face east, and wait for the first gold edge to appear.

The one thing to remember. The exact moment is 2.54pm on Tuesday, in daylight, when the Moon is still below our horizon. That does not matter. The full moon is worked across three days, and Tuesday evening, as it rises, is the best moment of all. Monday and Wednesday evenings are fine too.

Why Is It Called the Beaver Moon?

There are two stories, and no one is quite sure which came first. One says this was the month to set beaver traps before the rivers froze, when beavers had their thickest winter fur. The other says it is named after the beavers themselves, busy building and mending their dams and lodges before winter. Its other name, the Frost Moon, needs no explaining on a November night in Britain.

The names were popularised by American farmers’ almanacs in the twentieth century, drawing on a mixture of Native American, colonial and European names. There is a nice British twist this year. Beavers were hunted out of Britain hundreds of years ago, and after a long absence they are now back on some of our rivers, quietly building again. The Beaver Moon is a good reminder that things which seem gone for good can return.

What the Full Moon in Gemini Means

Every full moon happens when the Moon is in the sign opposite the Sun. In late November the Sun has just moved into Sagittarius, the sign of the big picture and the long journey, so the full moon sits across the sky in Gemini, the sign of the twins. Gemini is an air sign ruled by Mercury, the planet of words, messages and quick thinking. It loves conversation, curiosity, learning, brothers and sisters, friends and neighbours.

So this is a talkative, busy full moon. Gemini brings things into the open, the thoughts going round and round in your head, the messages you have meant to send, the conversation you keep rehearsing. Sagittarius, across the sky, asks what it all means. The Beaver Moon in Gemini is a good time to clear the mental clutter, say what needs saying kindly, and thank the people who keep you company.

Gemini says it. Sagittarius asks what it means. The full moon lets you hear both.

A Tuesday full moon

This year it falls on a Tuesday, the day of Mars, the planet of courage. In the old correspondences Tuesday is good for courage, energy and facing personal struggles, and its colour is red. Red is a strong colour to use, so many people pair it with white, which can stand in for any colour. A Tuesday Gemini moon is a brave one for honest words.

The story behind the sky

Gemini is the sign of twins, and the Greek goddess of the Moon, Artemis, had a twin of her own: Apollo, who was linked with the Sun. At a full moon, the Sun and Moon stand on opposite sides of the sky, like twins facing each other across a room. It is a lovely picture for a Gemini full moon: two sides of one family, each lighting what the other cannot. It is a story, not a history, but a good one for a long November evening.

Crystals for the Beaver Moon in Gemini

The traditional full moon stone is sunstone, and clear quartz is the classic stone to charge in its light. For this particular moon, these seven small tumblestones carry Gemini’s words and Sagittarius’s courage.

Blue Lace Agate

Soft blue and gently banded, the classic stone for calm, honest speech. It holds the centre of this month’s grid.

Sodalite

Deep blue with white streaks, traditionally linked with clear and logical thought. It belongs with Gemini’s busy mind.

Howlite

White with fine grey veins, like a clean page. Howlite is a calming stone for quieting the chatter long enough to know what you think.

Green Fluorite

Glassy and green, fluorite is known as a stone of order and focus, kept for sorting a cluttered head.

Tiger’s Eye

Golden brown and shimmering, a stone of steady confidence, for the Sagittarius side: trusting your own view of the bigger picture.

Goldstone

Goldstone is a glass made by people, sparkling with copper, not a natural stone, and we always say so. It has long been a favourite for optimism and adventure, which suits Sagittarius well.

Red Jasper

Warm brick red, the colour of Mars and of this Tuesday moon. Red jasper is a steady, grounding stone for courage that does not shout.

The Twin Pillars Grid for the Beaver Moon

The symbol for Gemini looks like two pillars joined at the top and bottom, so this grid is laid as two pillars of three stones, with a focus stone between them. One pillar holds Gemini’s words; the other holds Sagittarius’s courage and meaning.

MYSTIC GROVE · THE TWIN PILLARS GRID WORDS · GEMINI COURAGE · SAGITTARIUS Focus Blue Lace Agate 1 2 3 4 5 6 Sodalite Howlite Green Fluorite Tiger’s Eye Goldstone Red Jasper Two pillars joined top and bottom, like the Gemini symbol THE TWIN PILLARS GRID Focus 1 2 3 4 5 6 Focus: Blue Lace Agate Words: 1 Sodalite, 2 Howlite, 3 Green Fluorite Courage: 4 Tiger’s Eye, 5 Goldstone, 6 Red Jasper
The Twin Pillars Grid. Blue lace agate stands between the two pillars, joined to every stone; the pillars are joined to each other at the top and bottom.

The Focus Stone

Blue Lace Agate, the voice between

The centre stone stands between the two pillars and speaks for both, so it carries calm, honest words. If you would rather, sodalite works well in the centre for a grid about thinking something through. If you have a small clear quartz point, stand it in the centre pointing upwards; and if you have neither, any clear quartz will do.

The Pillar of Words

1 Sodalite, 2 Howlite and 3 Green Fluorite

Gemini’s pillar. Sodalite for clear thinking, howlite for quiet, and green fluorite for order. Together they turn a racing mind into something you can actually say.

The Pillar of Courage

4 Tiger’s Eye, 5 Goldstone and 6 Red Jasper

Sagittarius’s pillar, with a Tuesday touch. Tiger’s eye for confidence, goldstone for optimism, and red jasper for the steady Mars courage to speak up.

How this grid connects. There are no Way Stones in the Twin Pillars Grid. The stones in each pillar are joined top to bottom in a line, and the tops and bottoms of the two pillars are joined across, just like the Gemini symbol. Every pillar stone is also joined straight to the focus stone. Lay the centre first, then the pillar of words from top to bottom, then the pillar of courage from top to bottom.

A Beaver Moon Ritual: Say What Has Gone Unsaid

About twenty minutes, any evening from Monday to Wednesday, ideally Tuesday as the Moon rises. If you can, step outside or open a window first and listen for a minute: traffic, wind, a far off dog. Gemini is the sign of sound and talk, so this ritual works through your voice.

What you need

The practice

  1. Settle. Sit down and breathe out with a long, quiet hum, feeling it buzz in your chest. Do this five times. Humming is a simple way to quiet a busy Gemini mind.
  2. Light the candles. Light the white first, then the red. Say quietly: “Two flames, one voice.”
  3. Build the grid. Place the blue lace agate first, then each pillar from top to bottom, naming each stone as it goes down.
  4. Write the unsent letter. Write to someone, or to yourself, everything you have been holding back. No one will read it, so do not be polite. Keep going until it runs out.
  5. Read it aloud. Read the whole letter out loud once, at a normal speaking voice. Hearing your own words is often where the release happens.
  6. Let it go. Light the letter from the white candle and let it burn in the heatproof dish, or tear it into tiny pieces for the outside bin. Say: “Said and done.”
  7. Send one thank you. Now pick up your phone and send one short, real message of thanks to a friend, brother, sister or neighbour. Gemini rules all of them.
  8. Close. Snuff both candles, the red first. Leave the grid in place until the New Moon in Sagittarius on 9 December.

Charging Crystals Under the Supermoon

A supermoon is a lovely night to refresh your crystals. Set them on a windowsill or in a bowl outside on Tuesday night and bring them in before the morning sun. Remember that pyrite, lapis lazuli, selenite, opal and hematite should be kept away from salt and water, and that amethyst, celestite and turquoise can fade in strong sunlight. Our guide to how to cleanse crystals has the full list, and our moon water guide covers making full moon water.
