Description
A carnelian wand, cut and polished from natural banded carnelian into a long faceted point and sent on the silver display stand shown. There are two to choose from, at 16cm and 24cm, each glowing orange with its own pattern of white agate bands.
Choose your carnelian wand
- A, 16cm, 242g, £32. Deep orange and russet with fine lace like white banding, soft milky clouds through the body and a darker cherry red base.
- B, 24cm, 468g, £55. The larger of the two. Bright tangerine with bold white bands that fold into angular eye shapes, and little pockets of natural crust near the tip and base.
Every piece is photographed on its own, and the letter in the dropdown matches the photos, so the carnelian wand you see is the one you receive.
What carnelian is
Carnelian is a form of chalcedony, a fine grained quartz, coloured orange and red by iron. Many pieces carry the same curving bands seen in agate, which is why banded carnelian is sometimes called carnelian agate.
Held up to the light, a carnelian wand glows from within, and small areas of natural crust have been left where the stone grew against the rock around it.
Traditional correspondences
Carnelian is traditionally linked with the sacral chakra and with courage, motivation, creativity and warmth. A wand is often used to direct intention in ritual or crystal grid work, or kept on the altar as a focal point.
Its fiery colour suits candle magic, Samhain and the hearth of the darker months, and the bright energy of Beltane and Litha.
Correspondences are traditional and are offered as part of a practice, not as a substitute for medical or professional advice.
Caring for your carnelian wand
Carnelian is around 6.5 to 7 on the Mohs scale and takes everyday handling well, but the tip can chip if a wand falls, so keep it seated securely in its stand. Dust with a soft dry cloth. To cleanse, use sound, breath or moonlight.
What you receive
One carnelian wand, the piece you choose from the dropdown, with a stand, wrapped for the post and sent by Royal Mail Tracked.
