Description

A dream amethyst sphere, also known as chevron amethyst, cut and polished from natural amethyst layered with milky white quartz, and sent with a wooden stand. There are six to choose from, between 69mm and 73mm. Each sphere is photographed on its own, and the letter in the dropdown matches the photo, so the sphere you see is the sphere you receive.

What dream amethyst is

Dream amethyst is a trade name for amethyst that grew in layers with white quartz. Amethyst is the purple form of quartz, and here it formed in bands, alternating with milky white quartz as conditions changed.

When the stone is cut into a sphere, those layers show as V shaped chevrons, white edged honeycomb patterns where the crystal ends are cut across, and radiating sunburst sprays. No two dream amethyst spheres look the same, which is why each one is photographed separately.

Traditional correspondences

Amethyst is one of the best loved stones for calm, rest and intuition. It is traditionally linked with the third eye and crown chakras, and with sleep and dreaming, which is part of where the dream amethyst name comes from. Many people keep a dream amethyst sphere on the bedside table, on a meditation altar, or in the centre of a grid for clarity and peace.

The white quartz is traditionally seen as a clarifier and amplifier, so the two together are often chosen for clear sight and quiet insight. As the nights draw in towards Samhain, a dream amethyst sphere is a lovely companion for reflection and dream work.

Correspondences are traditional and are offered as part of a practice, not as a substitute for medical or professional advice.

Caring for your dream amethyst sphere

Amethyst can fade in strong direct sunlight over time, so keep your sphere out of a sunny window. It is quartz, around 7 on the Mohs scale, so it is hard wearing, but a sphere can chip if it rolls off a shelf. Keep it in its stand.

A soft dry cloth brings the polish back. To cleanse, use sound, breath or moonlight.
