Description

Hematoid quartz spheres, also known as fire quartz, chosen piece by piece. Each sphere is clear quartz that grew with fine inclusions of hematite, colouring it in shades of garnet, rust, orange and peach. Turn one in the light and the inner fractures flash with rainbows. There are five to choose from, from 63mm to 71mm, and each one comes with the wooden stand shown.

Choose your hematoid quartz sphere

  • A, 71mm, 518g, £48. The largest and darkest of the five. Deep garnet red and chocolate brown hematoid packed through the sphere, with flashes of gold and clear quartz catching the light.
  • B, 69mm, 468g, £48. Ruby red and brick hematoid swirled through clear and white quartz, with bright inner fractures that throw rainbows when you turn it.
  • C, 67mm, 420g, £45. A cap of deep red and rust over snowy white quartz, traced with fine red lines like veins in marble.
  • D, 70mm, 474g, £48. Glowing honey and golden orange, the brightest of the set, with a band of crackled clear quartz and soft russet shadows.
  • E, 63mm, 347g, £45. The smallest and softest. Pale peach and cream quartz brushed with streaks of orange and coral.

Every sphere is photographed on its own, and the letter in the dropdown matches the photos, so the fire quartz sphere you see is the one you receive.

What hematoid quartz is

Hematoid quartz is quartz in which hematite, an iron oxide, was trapped as the crystal grew. The more hematite that settled in, the deeper the colour, from a light orange haze to a rich brick red. It is sold under several names, including fire quartz, red hematoid quartz and harlequin quartz. A polished sphere shows the inclusions from every angle, and the inner fractures catch the light as rainbows.

Hematoid quartz meaning and traditional correspondences

Hematoid quartz is traditionally seen as joining the grounding of hematite with the clarity of clear quartz. It is linked with the root and sacral chakras, and is often chosen for grounding, steady energy, motivation and feeling settled in the body.

A sphere is said to send its energy out gently in every direction, which makes it a favourite for a living room, a desk or the centre of an altar. Fire quartz suits Samhain and the darker months, when warmth and grounding are the themes, and the hearth fires of Imbolc.

Correspondences are traditional and are offered as part of a practice, not as a substitute for medical or professional advice.

Caring for your hematoid quartz sphere

Quartz is around 7 on the Mohs scale, but a sphere can chip if it rolls off a shelf, so keep it seated on its stand. Dust with a soft cloth, keep it out of strong direct sun, as a sphere can focus sunlight, and cleanse with sound, breath or moonlight.
