Description
Mookaite comes from one place and one place only. The Kennedy Ranges of Western Australia, near a seasonal waterway called Mooka Creek, from which the stone takes its name. The word itself means running waters in the local Aboriginal language, and the connection to land, water, and deep time runs through everything about this stone.
Geologically, Mookaite is a silicified sedimentary rock, formed from the compacted skeletal remains of radiolaria, tiny single celled marine organisms that drifted in ancient seas and settled on the ocean floor over millions of years. As those seas receded and sediments hardened, groundwater rich in silica and iron permeated the layers, producing the warm palette of reds, golds, creams, ochres, and occasional purples the stone is known for. No two pieces carry the same pattern. The colours are entirely natural, formed by variations in iron oxide concentration within the stone.
Working with it
The wand format is one of the most versatile forms in crystal work. It can be used to direct energy during bodywork or energy sessions, held during meditation, placed on the body, or simply kept on a desk or altar as a grounding presence.
Mookaite works primarily with the Root and Sacral chakras. It is a grounding stone with real warmth to it, supportive during periods of change or transition, and useful for anyone wanting to feel more anchored and present in their body. It is often described as a stone of vitality and quiet determination.
About these wands
Each wand is approximately 15cm long and weighs between 160 and 170g. The gallery shows the range of colours and patterns across our current stock. When you order, you are choosing Mookaite rather than a specific piece. We will select a wand for you from the four available, choosing whichever we feel is the best match energetically.
Care
Cleanse in moonlight, with sound, or with the earth. Mookaite responds well to being placed directly on soil or grass for a short time.
