Description
A pyrite heart on a stand, polished from a single piece of natural pyrite and set on a silver display stand. The front is a glittering field of golden druzy, with clusters of small cubic pyrite crystals catching the light from every angle, and smooth polished cheeks of bright metallic gold at the edges. The back is polished smooth and flecked with sparkling crystal pockets. Standing on its stand, the heart measures 16cm tall and weighs 334g.
About this pyrite heart
Pyrite grows naturally in near perfect cubes, and this heart shows them beautifully: tight little steps and blocks of crystal across the front, softening into a fine glittering druzy towards the edges. The silver stand has a domed base decorated with the zodiac signs, and holds the heart upright with two soft prongs at the back.
What pyrite is
Pyrite is an iron sulphide mineral, known for its brassy golden lustre and its habit of growing in sharp cubes. Its old nickname, fool’s gold, comes from the miners who mistook its shine for the real thing. The name pyrite comes from the Greek word for fire, because it sparks when struck against steel.
Pyrite meaning and traditional correspondences
Pyrite is traditionally kept as a stone of abundance, confidence and protection, a shield that also draws good fortune. It is linked with the solar plexus chakra and with the sun, warmth and willpower. A heart shape adds a softer note of self worth and kindness, making a pyrite heart a lovely piece for anyone setting intentions around prosperity and self belief.
A pyrite heart on a stand is often placed on a desk, at the entrance of a home or in the wealth corner of a room, and it suits Lammas, the first harvest, with its golden energy of abundance.
Correspondences are traditional and are offered as part of a practice, not as a substitute for medical or professional advice.
Caring for your pyrite heart
Pyrite is around 6 to 6.5 on the Mohs scale, but its crystal faces can chip if knocked. Keep it dry, as moisture can dull its shine over time, and dust the druzy with a soft dry brush. To cleanse, use sound, breath or moonlight rather than water or salt.
