11:11 Portal 2026: Wednesday 11 November, Meaning and a Simple Ritual

The 11:11 portal 2026 falls on Wednesday 11 November. What the gateway is said to mean, when to mark it, and a simple candle and crystal ritual for the day

Once a year the calendar lines up with the clock, and the date reads 11/11. For many people the 11:11 portal is the brightest wishing day of the year, a moment to set a clear intention and plant something new. Here is when the 11:11 portal 2026 falls, what it is said to mean, how to mark it gently on a day the whole country also pauses, and the stones to keep close.

The 11:11 Portal 2026 Wednesday 11 November Focus moments at 11.11am and 11.11pm, UK time
    • Date: Wednesday 11 November 2026
    • The moments: 11.11am and 11.11pm UK time, with the whole day held as the portal
    • The moon: a young crescent, two days after the New Moon in Scorpio on Monday 9 November at 7.02am
    • The numbers: master number 11, twice over
    • Also that day: Armistice Day, with the two minutes’ silence at 11am
    • Stones: clear quartz, citrine, moonstone, labradorite and howlite

    What Is the 11:11 Portal?

The 11:11 portal is the name given to 11 November, the one day each year when the date matches the famous wishing minute. Where the 1111 angel number is a small nudge you might catch on a clock, the portal is the same idea stretched across a whole day.

People describe it as a doorway, a day when the line between what you think and what you go on to create feels unusually thin. That is why it is kept for manifesting, for writing down what you want next, and for choosing one clear new beginning rather than a long list of hopes.

You do not have to believe a door literally opens. Many people simply use the date as a well timed reminder to stop, get honest about what they want, and take the first small step.

When Is the 11:11 Portal in 2026?

The 11:11 portal 2026 falls on Wednesday 11 November. The whole day is treated as the portal, and two moments are kept as the heart of it: 11.11 in the morning and 11.11 at night, both in UK time.

How long is the 11:11 portal open?

Most people keep the portal for the full day of 11 November. Some like to begin preparing on the evening of the 10th and let the intention settle over the days that follow. Others carry it on to 22 November, because 22 is the other great master number, and treat the eleven days between as one gentle stretch of building.

There is no single rule. Choose the window that suits your week, and keep one quiet moment on the day itself.

The 11:11 Portal and Armistice Day

In Britain, 11 November already holds a pause. The First World War ended at 11 o’clock on 11 November 1918, the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month, and the two minutes’ silence is kept at that moment every year.

It is worth holding both with care. A lovely way to do it is to let the silence come first at 11am, with all that it remembers, and keep your own portal pause a little later at 11.11, or in the quiet of the evening at 11.11pm.

The Numbers Behind 11 November 2026

In numerology, 11 is one of the two master numbers, which are traditionally left whole rather than added down. Eleven is linked with intuition, inspiration and insight, and on 11/11 it appears twice, which is why the date feels so charged.

Add the full date down, 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 2 + 0 + 2 + 6, and you reach 14, then 5. Five is the number of change, movement and freedom. It makes 11 November 2026 a day for a fresh start that actually moves, rather than one that stays on the page.

The four ones of 1111 themselves add to 4, the number of foundations, as we explain in our 1111 angel number guide. Read together, the day offers inspiration, movement and something solid to stand on.

The Moon on the 11:11 Portal

This year the portal arrives two days after the New Moon in Scorpio, which is on Monday 9 November at 7.02am UK time. By the 11th the moon is a slim young crescent, just beginning to grow.

A waxing moon has long been the traditional time for anything you want to increase, so the timing is kind. An intention set on the portal can be tended as the moon fills, all the way to the Beaver Moon on Tuesday 24 November.

What to Do on the 11:11 Portal: A Simple Ritual

This 11:11 portal ritual follows the traditional shape of a new beginnings candle spell. It takes about fifteen minutes and needs very little.

    You will need

    • A white candle, or a Manifest Magic chime candle in the colour that matches your wish
    • A pen and a page, ideally in a journal kept for intentions
    • A few tumblestones, such as clear quartz and citrine

    The ritual

    1. Clear the space. Tidy the surface you will work on, open a window for a moment, and set out your candle, stones and journal.
    2. Light the candle. As it catches, say quietly that you are opening this time for a new beginning.
    3. Take eleven slow breaths. Count them. By the last one your mind will usually have settled on what matters most.
    4. Write your intention. Write one clear sentence in the present tense, as if it is already happening. Many people write it eleven times, or list eleven small steps towards it.
    5. Hold your stones. Hold the clear quartz while you read your words aloud, then rest the stones on the page.
    6. Close gently. Thank the moment, then snuff the candle rather than blowing it out. Leave the stones on your words until the Beaver Moon on 24 November.

If you can, light the candle again for a few minutes each evening as the moon grows, and add one small real world action each time.

    Crystals for the 11:11 Portal

Stones for clarity, new beginnings and helping an intention take shape, all on the shelf now in our crystals for manifestation and choose your stone tumblestones.

    Clear Quartz

The classic stone for clarity and for carrying an intention. Clear quartz is traditionally said to hold whatever you bring to it, which makes it the natural centre of any portal ritual.

    Citrine

Sunny and golden, citrine is kept for confidence, abundance and the energy to start. It suits a wish that needs a little courage behind it.

    Moonstone

Moonstone is linked with new beginnings and the waxing moon, a fitting companion for a portal that opens just after the new moon.

    Labradorite

With its flash of blue and gold, labradorite is traditionally kept for intuition and for moments of change, the in between feeling the 11:11 portal is all about.

    Howlite

White with fine grey veins, like a clean page with a few lines on it. Howlite is kept for calm and patience, for quieting a busy head long enough to hear what you actually want.

Correspondences are traditional and offered as part of a practice, not as a substitute for medical or professional advice.

Where the 11:11 Portal Idea Comes From

Wishing at 11:11 spread with digital clocks and then mobile phones, which show the time as four matching digits. The idea of 11:11 as a doorway was popularised in the early 1990s by the American writer Solara, whose book 11:11: Inside the Doorway came out in 1992. The angel number meaning was set down later, in the 2000s.

The portal day itself grew from those threads and became widely shared online. There is a plain reason the number catches us, too: once you have noticed 11:11 a few times, your attention starts looking for it. Whatever you make of that, the date remains a good, memorable moment to stop and choose. Our angel numbers guide covers the wider history.

Questions People Ask About the 11:11 Portal

    Is 11/11 a portal day?

In modern spiritual practice, yes. 11 November is widely kept as the 11:11 portal, a day for intentions, manifesting and new beginnings. It is a recent tradition rather than an ancient one, and it means as much as you choose to bring to it.

What time is the 11:11 portal?

The whole of Wednesday 11 November 2026 is held as the portal, with 11.11am and 11.11pm UK time as the two focus moments.

How long is the 11:11 portal open?

Most people keep it for the full day. Some begin the evening before, and some carry the intention through to 22 November, the other master number date.

What should I do on the 11:11 portal?

Keep it simple: light a candle, take eleven slow breaths, write one clear intention in the present tense, and hold a stone such as clear quartz while you read it aloud. Then take one small real step towards it.

What should I avoid on the 11:11 portal?

Try not to fill the day with worry or a long list of wants. Choose one or two intentions you truly care about, and remember that 11 November is also a day of remembrance in Britain, so keep the 11am silence with respect.

What Is a Sigil? Meaning, History and How to Make Your Own

What a sigil is, where the idea comes from, and a simple step by step way to make, charge and use your own, with a protection sigil and an abundance sigil to try

A sigil is a small symbol that holds a wish. You take a clear intention, turn its letters into a shape that no one else could read, and then use that shape as a focus for your magic. Sigils are one of the simplest and most personal forms of spellcraft: all you need is a pen, paper and a quiet moment. Here is what a sigil really is, how old the practice is, and how to make your own.

    Sigils at a Glance

    • What it is: a personal symbol made from an intention, used to focus and strengthen it
    • How to say it: SIJ·il
    • The word: from the Latin sigillum, meaning “seal”
    • Older roots: the seals and magical signs drawn in medieval and Renaissance books of magic
    • The modern letter method: made popular by the English artist Austin Osman Spare in the early 20th century
    • You need: paper, a pen, a statement of intent, and a candle or crystal if you like
    • Good times to make one: the new or waxing moon for drawing things in; the waning moon for letting go and protection
    • Popular sigils: protection, abundance and money, calm, confidence and love

    What Is a Sigil?

A sigil is a symbol designed to carry a specific intention. Sigils are also known as seals. They are usually a simple design of lines and curves, often set within a circle, and they are almost always made by the person who will use them. That is what makes them so powerful: the shape means something to you, because you built it from your own words.

A sigil exists to gather and strengthen your intent. Writing a wish out in full keeps it in the thinking, talking part of the mind. Turning it into a shape lets it settle somewhere deeper. Many people describe a finished sigil as a key or a seed: small, simple, and holding much more than it shows.

Sigils are used today in witchcraft, ceremonial magic and chaos magic, and they sit happily alongside candle work, crystal work and moon rituals.

Sigil Meaning: Where the Word Comes From

The word sigil comes from the Latin sigillum, a seal. In the medieval world a seal was a stamped mark, pressed into wax to show who had sent a letter and to keep it closed. A seal carried authority and identity in one small design. Magical sigils borrowed that idea: a mark that stands for something greater, and seals it.

    The Honest History of Sigils

Seals in the old books of magic

Long before the modern sigil, the handwritten books of magic of medieval and Renaissance Europe, often called grimoires, were full of seals and signs. Each planet had its own magical seal, and these designs were engraved on talismans and amulets for luck, protection or success. The German scholar Heinrich Cornelius Agrippa printed many of these planetary seals in his Three Books of Occult Philosophy in the 1530s, and they shaped European magic for centuries.

Austin Osman Spare and the modern letter method

The way most people make sigils today is much more recent. Marks and seals with magical meaning appear in many old traditions, but the modern use of the word, and the method of turning a written intention into a symbol, grew out of the occult revival active in Britain around the turn of the twentieth century. The person most linked with it is Austin Osman Spare, an English artist and occultist, who set out his method in The Book of Pleasure in 1913. You write a wish, remove the repeated letters, and combine what remains into a single design. Later in the 20th century, chaos magicians took up his method and spread it widely.

    Are sigils Celtic?

Not as we understand them today. The ancient Celts did not make sigils in this way. They did, though, fill their art, jewellery and carved stones with knots, spirals and symbols that held deep spiritual meaning and were believed to protect. Those designs were very likely used in magical and ritual ways, and many people now weave Celtic knots into their sigils. Our guide to Celtic symbols and meanings is a good place to find shapes to work with.

How to Make a Sigil: Step by Step

This is the traditional letter method, and it works for almost any intention.

    1. Set your intent. Take a moment to decide exactly what you want. Keep it to one clear goal.
    2. Write a statement of intent. Write it as a short sentence in the present tense, as if it is already true, and in positive words. “My home is safe” works better than “I don’t want anything bad to happen”. Use capital letters to make the next step easier.
    3. Remove the repeated letters. Go through your sentence and cross out any letter that has already appeared. Some people also remove all the vowels for a simpler shape. You are left with a short row of letters.
    4. Combine the shapes. Now draw those letters on top of one another, joining and overlapping them into one design. A line in an M can also be part of an H; the curve of an S can sit inside an O. Letters can be turned, flipped, stretched or shrunk.
    5. Simplify. Redraw your design several times, smoothing it each time, until it no longer looks like letters at all. Stop when it feels right and pleasing to the eye.
    6. Finish it. Many people draw a circle around the finished sigil to seal it. You might also add a small Celtic knot, a moon phase or a dot at the centre.

How to Charge and Use a Sigil

A sigil is usually charged before it is used: filled with your energy and intention. Charging can be done by meditating on the sigil, by picturing your wish already come true while you hold it, or by working a short ritual. Here are three simple ways.

    With a candle

Draw your sigil on a small piece of paper and place it beneath a candle holder, or carve it into the candle itself with a pin. Choose a colour that matches your wish, or use white, which can stand in for any colour. Light the candle, look at the sigil, and say your statement of intent aloud. Sit with the flame for a while, breathing slowly, then snuff the candle. You can relight it on following nights until it has burned down. Our candle colour guide will help you choose.

    Under a crystal

Place your sigil on your altar or a windowsill and set a tumblestone on top of it, so the stone holds it steady. Leave it there for a full moon cycle, touching the stone each day and saying your intention. Choose a crystal whose traditional meaning matches your sigil.

    In a journal

Draw your sigil at the top of a fresh page in your journal or Book of Shadows. Each day, trace it slowly with your finger or pen and write a line about any changes you notice. This is a gentle way to keep a long term goal in front of you.

    Activating and releasing

There are two ways of thinking about what happens next. In the tradition that comes from Spare, you activate a sigil by letting it go: you burn it safely in a cauldron or heatproof dish, and then try to forget about it, so your wish can work quietly without your worrying at it. Others prefer to keep their sigil close, on the altar, in a purse or wallet, or tucked into a pillowcase, as a constant reminder. Both are valid. Try each and see which suits you.

    A Protection Sigil to Try

Here is how one protection sigil comes together, described step by step.

    Statement: MY HOME IS SAFE.

    Remove repeated letters: the second M, the second E and the second S go, leaving M, Y, H, O, E, I, S, A, F.

Combine: Start with the M drawn wide across the top, so it looks like a roof with two peaks. Drop the two uprights of the H beneath it as the walls of a house, and let the I stand as a single line down the middle, like a front door. The crossbar of the H can double as the middle bar of the E and the F, which simply add short lines facing outwards. The A becomes a small peak inside one side of the roof. The S curls gently around the base of the door like a path, and the Y forks downward at the bottom like roots holding the house to the earth. Finally the O becomes a circle drawn around everything, a boundary that keeps the whole home safe within it.

MYSTIC GROVE · A PROTECTION SIGIL1 WRITE ITMYHOMEISSAFE2 CROSS OUT REPEATSLetters left to draw with:MYHOEISAF3 COMBINE AND SEALA house in a circle: roof above, door at the centre, roots below.
The protection sigil MY HOME IS SAFE, from statement to finished shape.

The finished shape reads as a house standing inside a circle, with roots below and a peaked roof above. You might draw it on a card to keep by your front door, or slip it beneath a black or white candle on a Saturday, a day traditionally linked with protection and banishing. Black obsidian, hematite and Whitby jet are classic stones to rest on top. For more, see our gentle protection spell for your home.

An Abundance or Money Sigil to Try

    Statement: I HAVE ENOUGH.

    Remove repeated letters: the second E and the second H go, leaving I, H, A, V, E, N, O, U, G.

Combine: Begin with the V at the centre, drawn as an open cup or bowl. Set the U just inside it, so you have a cup within a cup. The N becomes a zigzag line pouring down into the bowl from above, like a stream. The A sits on top of the N as a small peak, the point the stream flows from. The H stands as a pair of short legs under the bowl, holding it steady, and the I is a single line rising from the centre. Turn the E on its side so its three short lines become little rays rising from the rim of the bowl. Let the G curl around the bowl’s side like a handle, and draw the O as a small coin shape resting inside the cup.

MYSTIC GROVE · AN ABUNDANCE SIGIL1 WRITE ITIHAVEENOUGH2 CROSS OUT REPEATSLetters left to draw with:IHAVENOUG3 COMBINE AND SEALA full bowl, fed from above, standing steady on its own legs.
The abundance sigil I HAVE ENOUGH, from statement to finished shape.

The finished design looks like a full bowl, steadily fed from above. If you would rather focus on money itself, you could try a statement such as MY INCOME GROWS, and build it the same way. Make an abundance sigil on a new or waxing moon, when the light is growing, ideally on a Thursday, the day traditionally linked with luck and wealth. A green or gold candle and a piece of goldstone or tiger’s eye sit well with it. Remember that a sigil works alongside practical steps, never instead of them.

Timing Your Sigil Work with the Moon

    • New moon: the time for fresh starts. Make a new sigil and set your intention.
    • Waxing moon: as the moon grows, so does your wish. Good for abundance, confidence and growth.
    • Full moon: a lovely night to charge a sigil under the moonlight.
    • Waning moon: for letting go, clearing and protection. A good time to burn and release a sigil.
    • Dark moon: a time for rest rather than spellwork.

Avoid charging or activating sigils during an eclipse. You can find more in our guide to moon phases explained.

    Safety and Respect

    • Work for yourself. Make sigils for your own life and home. It is kind and respectful not to aim them at another person, or to try to change someone’s feelings or choices without their knowledge.
    • Keep it positive. A sigil works best for something you want to welcome, rather than something you want to harm.
    • Be careful with old seals. Some designs found in old books of magic belong to complex traditions with their own rules. Making your own sigil is simpler and more personal than copying a seal you do not fully understand.
    • Burn safely. If you burn a sigil, use a cauldron or heatproof dish on a stable surface, away from anything that can catch, and never leave a flame unattended. Always snuff candles out.
    • Stay practical. A sigil is a tool for focus and intention. It sits alongside sensible everyday steps and professional advice, and never replaces them.

    Questions People Ask

    What does a sigil do?

A sigil gives your intention a shape. By turning a wish into a symbol and then charging it, you give your mind a single focus to return to. Many people find that this helps them stay clear about what they want and notice the chances that come their way.

    Do sigils really work?

People who use sigils find them a helpful way to focus their intention, and many keep a journal of what happens after they make one. Like any magical practice, a sigil works best alongside practical action, rather than as a promise of a particular result.

What is the most powerful protection sigil?

The most powerful sigil is usually the one you make yourself, because every line holds your own words. Traditional protection symbols such as the Celtic shield knot can also be woven into a protection sigil. Pair it with stones from our guide to crystals for protection.

Can I make a sigil for someone else?

Yes, with their knowledge and agreement. Many people make a sigil of good wishes for a friend or family member who has asked for one. It is best not to make sigils that try to influence someone without their consent.

Do I need to burn my sigil?

No. Burning is one traditional way to activate and release a sigil, but you can also keep it on your altar, carry it with you, or draw it into your journal. Choose the way that feels right for your intention.

What is the difference between a sigil and a symbol?

A symbol, like a Celtic knot or a pentacle, has a shared meaning many people recognise. A sigil is personal: it is built from your own statement of intent, so only you know what it means.

The weeks ahead in order. Open circles are new moons, filled circles are full moons. All times are UK clock time for 2026.

Last year’s Scorpio new moon fell on 20 November 2025. The dates move each year because the Moon’s month is a little shorter than our calendar months, so always check the year at the top of a moon guide. Our moon guides are sorted by year to make that easy.

Never Kept a New Moon Before? Start Here

Once a month the Moon passes between us and the Sun. The side lit by the Sun faces away from us, so for a night or two there is no Moon to see at all. That dark night is the new moon. Over the following two weeks a thin crescent appears in the evening sky and grows to the full moon, then shrinks away again. The whole round takes about 29 and a half days.

Keeping a new moon simply means pausing on that dark night to choose one thing you want to begin, and giving it the month to grow. Traditionally the work is done once the dark has passed and the very first crescent is on its way, which is why the best evenings for this one are Monday to Wednesday. A candle, a notebook and a few small stones are plenty.

The one thing to remember. The new moon is the exact moment, 7.02am on Monday 9 November. You do not need to do anything at that minute. Monday evening is ideal, and the beginning energy stays fresh until Wednesday night, when the first silver crescent appears.

What the New Moon in Scorpio Means

Every new moon happens in the same sign as the Sun, and in early November the Sun is in Scorpio. Scorpio is a water sign, but it is water deep underground: still, dark and powerful. Its themes are endings and renewal, honesty, loyalty, privacy and the things we feel most strongly but rarely say out loud.

That makes the New Moon in Scorpio a beginning that comes after an ending. It suits a fresh start after a loss, a hard truth you are finally ready to face, a habit you are ready to leave behind for good, or a commitment you want to make to yourself in private, without telling anyone yet. Scorpio intentions are best kept close. They grow strongest when they are not talked about too soon.

A bulb in November soil looks like nothing at all. Scorpio knows better.

A Monday new moon in the week of Remembrance

This year the new moon lands on a Monday, the Moon’s own day, the day of home, family and peace. It also sits between Remembrance Sunday on 8 November and Armistice Day on Wednesday 11 November, when the country keeps two minutes of silence at the eleventh hour. Scorpio has always been the sign most at ease with remembering those who have gone. If you are missing someone this autumn, this is a kind new moon for an intention that carries them forward with you.

    The number of the date

The date reads 9.11.2026. Nine is the number of completion, and eleven, the number of the month, is one of numerology’s master numbers, linked with intuition. Add every digit together and they come to 21, then 3, the number of growth. Completion, intuition, growth: a fair summary of what this moon is for.

    The story behind the sky

In ancient Athens, the last dark night of each lunar month belonged to Hecate, the goddess of crossroads, keys and the night. Households cleared out the old month and left a small supper for her where the roads met, so that the new month could begin clean. It is a story worth carrying into a Scorpio new moon: tidy away the old, and then begin. Our guide to Hecate, goddess of crossroads and the dark moon tells her story in full.

    The Honest History of Scorpio

The scorpion is one of the oldest figures in the sky. Babylonian astronomers saw a scorpion in these stars more than three thousand years ago, and the Greeks inherited it. For a long time the Scorpion was so large that the stars we now call Libra were counted as its claws, until the Romans settled the scales as a sign of their own. In Greek myth, the scorpion was sent to defeat the hunter Orion, and the two were set on opposite sides of the sky, so that Orion sets in the west as the Scorpion rises in the east.

Scorpio’s traditional ruler is Mars. When Pluto was discovered in 1930, many astrologers began to give Scorpio to Pluto instead, and today you will see both. We mention both, because both readings are in common use.

Crystals for the New Moon in Scorpio

These stones are chosen for Scorpio’s themes of depth, honesty, courage and renewal. Every one is a small tumblestone, so the whole set sits in one hand.

    Purple Labradorite

Labradorite is the classic new moon stone, dark until the light finds it and then suddenly full of colour. This purple variety holds the centre of the grid, for beginnings that start in the dark.

    Black Obsidian

Volcanic glass, formed when molten rock cools too quickly to make crystals. Obsidian is the traditional stone of honesty with yourself, which is where every Scorpio beginning starts.

    Whitby Jet

Fossilised wood from the Yorkshire coast. Whitby jet became the stone of mourning jewellery in the nineteenth century, so it carries remembrance in a very British way. It belongs here for anyone carrying someone with them into the new month.

    Bloodstone

Dark green with flecks of red, bloodstone is a stone of courage, long linked with Mars, the traditional ruler of Scorpio. It is kept for the bravery a new start sometimes needs.

    Ruby Zoisite

Green with pink and red set into it, ruby zoisite is a stone of growth and renewed energy, a lovely picture of something bright coming through something solid.

    Dragon Stone

Deep green streaked with red, dragon stone is a steady, strengthening stone, kept for staying the course once the excitement of beginning wears off.

    Lepidolite

Lilac and gently glittering, lepidolite is a calming stone. Scorpio feels everything deeply, so a little calm belongs in the mix.

The Spiral Grid for the New Moon in Scorpio

This grid is laid as a spiral, the oldest shape for going down into the dark and coming back out renewed. The focus stone sits at the heart, and the other six follow a single winding line outwards, from the deepest work to the gentlest.

MYSTIC GROVE · THE SPIRAL GRID Focus 1 2 3 4 5 6 Focus Purple Labradorite 1 Black Obsidian 2 Whitby Jet 3 Bloodstone 4 Ruby Zoisite 5 Dragon Stone 6 Lepidolite Follow the line from the centre outwards, one to six THE SPIRAL GRID Focus 1 2 3 4 5 6 Focus: Purple Labradorite 1 Black Obsidian, 2 Whitby Jet 3 Bloodstone, 4 Ruby Zoisite 5 Dragon Stone, 6 Lepidolite
The Spiral Grid. Purple labradorite at the heart; the six stones follow one winding line outwards, from the deepest work to the gentlest.

    The Focus Stone

Purple Labradorite, the seed in the dark

The centre of a spiral is the deepest point, where the journey turns and begins to come back out. Labradorite sits here because it is the new moon’s own stone, dark until the light catches it. If you would rather, black obsidian works well in the centre for an intention about honesty or a clean break. If you have a small clear quartz point, it can stand in the centre instead, pointing upwards; and if you have neither, any clear quartz will do.

    The Spiral Stones

1 Black Obsidian and 2 Whitby Jet, the truth and the remembering

The two stones closest to the centre hold the deepest work. Obsidian asks for honesty about what has ended; Whitby jet carries what you want to remember from it.

3 Bloodstone and 4 Ruby Zoisite, the courage and the renewal

The middle turns of the spiral. Bloodstone brings Mars courage to the beginning, and ruby zoisite carries the first signs of new growth coming through.

5 Dragon Stone and 6 Lepidolite, the staying power and the calm

The outermost turns, closest to everyday life. Dragon stone keeps you going once the start is behind you, and lepidolite keeps it all gentle.

How this grid connects. There are no Way Stones in the Spiral Grid. A single line winds from the focus stone out through each stone in turn, one to six, so the energy runs like a path. Lay the centre first, then follow the spiral outwards, saying each stone’s two words as it goes down: the truth, the remembering, the courage, the renewal, the staying power, the calm.

A New Moon in Scorpio Ritual: Planting in the Dark

November is the month for planting tulips and other spring bulbs, which makes it the perfect time for a new moon ritual you can hold in your hands. About twenty minutes, any evening from Monday to Wednesday.

    What you need

    The practice

    1. Settle. Turn the lights low. Breathe in through your nose for a count of four, and out slowly through your mouth for a count of eight, letting the breath out as a long, quiet sigh. Repeat seven times.
    2. Light the candle. As the flame catches, say quietly: “Something ended. Something begins.”
    3. Name what ended. In your notebook, write one or two lines about what has finished this autumn. Read them aloud once, then close the notebook.
    4. Write the beginning. On the small slip, write one private intention, a single sentence with a date in it. For example: “By Yule I will have finished the first chapter.” Fold it small.
    5. Build the grid. Place the labradorite first, then follow the spiral outwards, saying each stone’s two words as it goes down.
    6. Hold the bulb. Take the bulb in your hand and feel its weight, its papery skin and its point. Press the folded intention against it and say your intention aloud.
    7. Plant it. Plant the bulb, point upwards, about three times its own depth, with the folded slip tucked into the soil beside it. Press the soil down firmly with your palms.
    8. Close. Snuff the candle. Leave the grid in place until the Beaver Moon on 24 November. In spring, when the first green shoot appears, read your intention again.

Last year’s Libra new moon fell on 21 October 2025. The dates move each year because the Moon’s month is a little shorter than our calendar months, so always check the year at the top of a moon guide. Our moon guides are now sorted by year to make that easy.

Never Kept a New Moon Before? Start Here

If the words new moon keep appearing on your phone and you are quietly curious, welcome. You have not missed anything.

Here is the whole idea in a few lines. Once a month the Moon passes between us and the Sun. The side lit by the Sun faces away from us, so for a night or two there is simply no Moon to be seen. That dark night is the new moon. Over the next two weeks a thin crescent appears in the evening sky, grows to a half, and fills out to the full moon. Then it shrinks back again, and the whole round begins once more about 29 and a half days later.

People have marked that dark night for a very long time, because it is the clearest beginning the sky offers. Keeping a new moon simply means pausing on that night to choose one thing you want to begin, and then giving it the whole month to grow. You need no special knowledge. A candle, a notebook, a few small stones and twenty quiet minutes are plenty.

The one thing to remember. The new moon is the exact moment, 4.50pm on Saturday 10 October. You do not have to do anything at that minute. Saturday evening is ideal, and the energy is still fresh until Monday night.

What the New Moon in Libra Means

Every new moon happens in the same sign as the Sun, and in early October the Sun is in Libra. Libra is the sign of the scales, the only sign of the twelve that is an object rather than a creature. Its whole interest is weighing: two sides, two people, two choices, and what would make them fair.

So the New Moon in Libra is the month’s beginning for anything that needs balancing. It suits a fresh start in a friendship or a partnership, a fairer share of the jobs at home, a decision you have been going back and forth on, or a promise to give yourself as much kindness as you give everyone else. Libra is ruled by Venus, so beauty belongs here too. Clearing one corner of your home and making it lovely is a perfectly good Libra new moon intention.

Balance is not keeping everyone happy. It is making sure you are on the scales too.

A Saturday new moon, with Saturn watching

This year the Libra new moon lands on a Saturday, the day named after Saturn, and Saturn itself sits on the far side of the sky in Aries. Saturn is the planet of commitments, boundaries and things built to last. Put together, this new moon is less about wishing and more about agreeing. An agreement with yourself or with someone else is strongest when it is plain: what you will do, by when, and what happens if it slips. Write your intention so that it could be kept.

    The mirror date

The date itself reads 10.10, the same on both sides of the dot, which is a pleasing echo of the scales. Add the digits of the full date and they come to 12, then to 3. In numerology three is the number of growth and of something new made from two parts, which is exactly the Libra lesson: not one side winning, but a third way that suits both.

The Honest History of Libra and the New Moon

The scales are very old. Babylonian astronomers called this part of the sky the scales well over two thousand years ago. The early Greeks, though, saw something different there: they read these stars as the claws of the Scorpion next door, and many Greek writers still called them the Claws. It was in Roman times that Libra was firmly settled as a sign of its own, and the Latin name simply means a pair of scales. In those centuries the Sun stood in Libra at the autumn equinox, when day and night are equal, which made the scales a natural fit.

Marking the dark of the moon is older still. Many calendars, including the Babylonian, began each month when the first thin crescent was spotted after the new moon, and some religious calendars still do. The custom of setting a written intention on the new moon night is much more recent, a modern practice that grew through popular astrology in the twentieth century. That does not make it less worth doing. It simply means you are keeping a young custom built on a very old instinct: the dark night is where things begin.

Crystals for the New Moon in Libra

These stones are chosen for Libra’s themes of fairness, kindness and clear choices, and every one is a small tumblestone, so the whole set sits comfortably in one hand.

    Rose Quartz

The heart stone, long linked with Venus and with love of every kind, including the kindness we owe ourselves. For a Libra new moon it holds the centre, because fairness that leaves you out is not fairness.

    Rhodonite

Pink with dark veins running through it, rhodonite is the traditional stone of mending and forgiveness. It suits any intention about repairing a friendship or letting an old hurt go so that a relationship can start again.

    Blue Lace Agate

Soft blue and banded, this is a stone of gentle, honest speech. Keep it close for the conversation you have been putting off, so that the words come out calm.

    Sodalite

Deep blue with white streaks, sodalite is traditionally linked with clear, logical thought. It is the partner to blue lace agate: one for the words, one for the thinking behind them.

    Lepidolite

Lilac and softly glittering, lepidolite is a calming stone, kept for times of too much. It belongs here for anyone whose scales tip towards doing everything for everybody.

    Labradorite

Grey until the light catches it and a flash of blue appears, labradorite is a classic new moon stone, kept for beginnings and for trusting your own instincts in the dark.

    Hematite

Heavy, silver and grounding, hematite is the Saturn note in this set. It keeps an intention practical and gives it weight, so that it does not float away as a nice idea.

The Scales Grid for the New Moon in Libra

This grid is built like a balance. One stone sits in the centre as the beam of the scales, and the other six sit in three pairs facing each other across it. Each pair is a question of balance: something to give and something to keep.

MYSTIC GROVE · THE SCALES GRID Focus Rose Quartz 1 Blue Lace Agate 1 Sodalite 2 Rhodonite 2 Lepidolite 3 Labradorite 3 Hematite Matching numbers face each other across the centre THE SCALES GRID Focus 1 1 2 2 3 3 Focus: Rose Quartz 1 Blue Lace Agate and Sodalite 2 Rhodonite and Lepidolite 3 Labradorite and Hematite
The Scales Grid. Rose quartz holds the centre; each numbered pair faces its partner across it, joined by a straight line through the focus stone.

    The Focus Stone

Rose Quartz, the beam of the scales

The centre stone is where every line meets, so it carries the heart of the intention. Rose quartz sits here because Libra’s ruler is Venus, and because the first thing to put on the scales is your own wellbeing. If you would rather, rhodonite works well in the centre for an intention about mending a relationship. If you have a small clear quartz point, it can stand in the centre instead, pointing upwards, to carry any intention at all. If you have neither, clear quartz in any form will do.

    The Three Pairs

Pair one: Blue Lace Agate and Sodalite, the words and the thinking

Placed left and right, on the level line of the scales. Blue lace agate holds kind, honest speech; sodalite holds clear thought. Together they balance the heart and the head, so that what you say is both gentle and true.

Pair two: Rhodonite and Lepidolite, the mending and the calm

Placed upper left and lower right. Rhodonite carries forgiveness and repair; lepidolite carries calm and the permission to do less. This pair balances giving and resting, which is where most of us tip too far.

Pair three: Labradorite and Hematite, the new start and the ground beneath it

Placed upper right and lower left. Labradorite is the new moon’s own stone, the spark of a beginning; hematite is Saturn’s weight, keeping that beginning practical. One lifts, one steadies.

How this grid connects. There are no Way Stones in the Scales Grid. Each pair is joined directly to its partner by a straight line that passes through the focus stone, so all three lines cross at the rose quartz. Lay the centre first, then each pair together, the two stones of a pair placed at the same time, one in each hand.

A New Moon in Libra Ritual

Twenty minutes. Saturday evening is perfect, though any time up to Monday night is fine. Close your eyes at any point if you like and picture a pair of scales coming gently level.

    What you need

    • A candle: a new moon manifestation candle, or a pink or white chime candle for Venus
    • A notebook and pen
    • Your seven stones, or the ones you have
    • A bell, a singing bowl, or simply your own voice

    The practice

    1. Settle. Sit somewhere quiet with the lights low. Strike the bowl or ring the bell once, and listen until the sound has completely gone. That silence is where the ritual begins.
    2. Breathe level. Breathe in for a count of four and out for a count of four, ten times. Equal in, equal out: Libra’s balance, felt in the chest.
    3. Light the candle. As the wick catches, say out loud, quietly: “This is a new beginning.”
    4. Weigh it up. Draw a line down the middle of a page. On the left, write what you give too much of. On the right, write what you need more of. Read both columns aloud.
    5. Write one intention. Underneath, write a single sentence that would bring the two sides closer, with a date in it. For example: “By the Hunter’s Moon I will ask for help with the Sunday jobs.”
    6. Build the grid. Place the rose quartz first, then each pair, one stone in each hand, naming each pair as you set it down: the words and the thinking, the mending and the calm, the new start and the ground.
    7. Seal it with sound. Hold the rose quartz in your hand, read your intention aloud, then ring the bell or hum one long, steady note. Feel where the sound sits in your body.
    8. Close. Snuff the candle rather than blowing it out. Leave the grid in place until the Hunter’s Moon on 26 October, and read your intention each time you pass it.

    New Moon Water for Libra

New moon water is quiet, hopeful water for seeds and first steps. Set a clean glass jar of water out on Saturday night, near your grid or on a windowsill, and bring it in on Sunday morning. A Libra jar is lovely for watering a plant you have chosen as a symbol of your intention, or for adding to a bath when you want some time that is just yours. Our full guide to how to make moon water covers every phase and what to avoid.

Questions People Ask About the New Moon in Libra

What time is the New Moon in Libra 2026?

4.50pm UK time on Saturday 10 October 2026. The UK is still on British Summer Time that day; the clocks go back two weeks later, on Sunday 25 October.

When is the next New Moon in Libra?

The Libra new moon comes round once a year, in late September or October. After 10 October 2026, the next one is in the autumn of 2027. The next new moon of any sign is the New Moon in Scorpio, at 7.02am on Monday 9 November 2026.

Can I do the ritual the day after?

Yes. The exact moment is Saturday afternoon, and the beginning energy is still fresh on Sunday and Monday. Many people simply choose the first quiet evening they have.

Why can’t I see the Moon on Saturday?

Because at a new moon its lit side faces away from us, and it rises and sets with the Sun. Look low in the west just after sunset a couple of evenings later, around Monday 12 October, for the first thin silver crescent.

Is this the same as last year’s Libra new moon?

No. Last year’s fell on 21 October 2025. The guide you are reading is for 2026.

  • 1111 Angel Number Meaning: Why 11:11 Feels Like a Sign

1111 Angel Number Meaning: Why 11:11 Feels Like a Sign

1111 angel number meaning: why 11:11 feels like a sign, what it is said to mean, and a one minute pause with the stones to match

Few numbers stop people the way 11:11 does. You look at your phone at exactly that minute and something in you says “make a wish”. The 1111 angel number is linked with new beginnings, paying attention and the sense that a door is open. Here is what 1111 is said to mean, why it catches so many of us, and a simple way to work with it, from the traditional 11:11 wish to a stone in your hand.

11:11 on 11 November: this year the 11:11 portal falls on Wednesday 11 November 2026. Our 11:11 portal 2026 guide has the timings and a simple ritual for the day.

What Does the 1111 Angel Number Mean?

The 1111 angel number is read as a moment to pause and notice. One is the number of beginnings, and four ones in a row make it the strongest new start on the angel number list. People take it as a sign that their thoughts are especially powerful right now, so it is worth checking what they are.

That is why 11:11 has become the wishing minute. The meaning that has grown around it is gentle: stop, notice what you were just thinking about, and if it is something you want, say so.

1111 is four doors standing open at once. It asks which one you were already walking towards.

1111 in Love, Work and Everyday Life

    1111 and love

In love, 1111 is linked with fresh starts and with being honest about what you want. Seeing it while thinking of someone is usually read as a sign to pay attention to that feeling. It can also mark a new chapter on your own.

    1111 and work

For work, 1111 is a number for ideas and first steps. If you keep seeing it while weighing up a new project, course or job, the traditional reading is that the idea deserves a proper look.

    1111 and the everyday

Most of the time 1111 is simply a nudge to come back into the present. You were on autopilot, and for a second you are not.

    The Numerology of 1111

Numerology reads 1111 in two ways. By the repeating digit, one, it is all about beginnings and independence. Added down, 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 = 4, the number of foundations. That is a lovely pairing: a new start that has something solid under it. It is also why 1111 sits so closely with 444.

Eleven is also one of the two master numbers in numerology, which are traditionally left whole rather than added down. Eleven is linked with intuition and inspiration, and 1111 holds it twice.

    The Eleventh Hour in Britain

In Britain, the eleventh hour already carries a pause. The First World War ended at 11 o’clock on 11 November 1918, the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month, and the two minutes’ silence has been kept at that moment ever since. This year Armistice Day falls on Wednesday 11 November 2026. Whatever 1111 means to you, it is worth knowing that the whole country already stops for it once a year.

This year the date falls on Wednesday 11 November, and many people keep it as the 11:11 portal. Our 11:11 portal 2026 guide has the timings, the moon and a simple ritual for the day.

    1111 and Manifestation

1111 is one of the numbers most closely tied to manifesting, the practice of naming what you want clearly and then acting towards it. Because 11:11 is read as a moment when your thoughts carry extra weight, many people use it as a cue to state an intention, write it down or repeat an affirmation.

Keep the words simple and in the present tense, as if they are already true: “I am ready for a new start” rather than “I hope things change”. Then take one small practical step the same day. Manifesting works best as a way of keeping your attention on a goal, alongside the everyday work of reaching it.

    1111 and Twin Flames

In twin flame circles, 1111 is one of the most talked about numbers. A twin flame is described as a soul connection so strong it feels like meeting a mirror of yourself, and seeing 1111 is often read as a sign that such a connection is close, or that two people are thinking of each other.

It is worth holding this gently. The twin flame idea is a modern one, and 1111 cannot tell you who to be with. If the number turns up while you are thinking of someone, take it as an invitation to be honest with yourself about what you feel, which is the heart of every 1111 reading.

Where the 1111 Meaning Comes From

The habit of wishing at 11:11 spread with digital clocks and then mobile phones, which show the time in four digits. The angel number meaning was set down in the 2000s by the American writer Doreen Virtue, whose book Angel Numbers came out in 2005; she later stepped away from that teaching. There is a plain reason it catches us too: once you have noticed 11:11 a few times, your attention starts looking for it, and it seems to find you every day. Our angel numbers guide covers the full history.

Crystals for the 1111 Angel Number

Stones for clearing the mind and opening a new page, all on the shelf now.

    Howlite

White with fine grey veins, like a clean page with a few lines on it. Howlite is traditionally kept for calm and patience, for quieting a busy head long enough to hear what you actually want.

    Clear Quartz

The classic stone for clarity and for carrying an intention. Clear quartz suits 1111 because it holds whatever you bring to it, which is exactly what a new start needs.

    Opalite

Opalite is a glass made by people, not a natural stone, and we always say so. Its milky glow, which turns blue or gold as it moves, has made it a favourite for times of transition, the in between moment that 1111 is all about.

    Lepidolite

Soft lilac and gently glittering, lepidolite is a calming stone. Keep it for the 1111 moments that come when your mind is racing.

    The 11:11 Pause

MYSTIC GROVE · THE 11:11 PAUSE 11:11 1 Stop what you are doing 1 One slow breath, in and out 1 Notice what you were thinking 1 Say what you want, quietly THE 11:11 PAUSE 11:11 1 Stop what you are doing 1 One slow breath 1 Notice what you were thinking 1 Say what you want, quietly
The 11:11 pause: one step for each one in the number. It takes less than a minute.

When the clock shows 11:11, or the number turns up anywhere, try this. It builds on the old habit of making a wish at 11:11: close your eyes, picture what you are wishing for, then follow the steps.

    1. Stop. Put down what you are holding, or simply rest your hands.
    2. Breathe once. One slow breath in through the nose and out through the mouth. Listen to it.
    3. Notice. What were you thinking about a second ago? Name it in your head.
    4. Say it. If it is something you want, say it quietly out loud, in a few words. If you have a howlite or clear quartz in your pocket, hold it while you speak.

If you like, keep a running list in a notebook of every 11:11 wish. Looking back over a few months, most people find the same few wishes come up again and again, which is useful to know.

    Questions People Ask About 1111

    What does 11:11 mean spiritually?

A moment of alignment and new beginnings. It is read as a sign to notice your thoughts, because they are said to carry extra weight at that moment.

    Should I make a wish at 11:11?

Many people do, and it is a lovely habit. Keep the wish short, say it aloud, and write it down later.

What does 1111 mean in love?

A fresh start, and honesty about what you really want. Seeing it while thinking about someone is usually taken as a sign to pay attention to that feeling.

Is seeing 1111 a good sign?

Yes. In the angel number tradition it is one of the most hopeful numbers there is.

What does 1111 mean for manifestation?

It is read as a moment when your thoughts are especially powerful, so it is a popular cue to state an intention or affirmation and take one small step towards it.

Is 1111 a twin flame number?

In twin flame circles, yes. It is often read as a sign of a close soul connection, though it is best taken as a prompt to be honest about your own feelings.

What is the difference between 111 and 1111?

111 is a single run of beginnings, linked with intuition and fresh ideas. 1111 holds the same energy twice and adds down to 4, the number of foundations, so it is read as a new start with something solid beneath it.

    Your 1111 Toolkit

Keep a howlite or opalite tumblestone in your pocket for the 11:11 pause, a notebook for your wishes, and a white chime candle for the evening you decide to start something new. For a crystal ball to match, the 111 angel number crystal ball carries the same energy of beginnings and intuition.

There is no 1111 crystal ball, but 1111 adds down to 4, so the 444 crystal ball is its natural partner, and the 111 Intuition crystal ball carries its repeating one. The angel number affirmation cards with wooden stand keep a daily number on your desk.

Candle Colour Meanings: What Every Spell Candle Colour Is For, Day by Day

Candle colour meanings for spells and rituals: what every colour is for, which day of the week suits it, how to prepare a candle, and why white can always stand in

Choosing a candle colour is one of the simplest and most satisfying parts of any ritual. The colour becomes part of the intention: pink for love, green for growth, black for protection, white for almost anything. This guide gathers the traditional meanings in one place, matches each colour to its day of the week and its planet, and shows you how to prepare and burn a spell candle properly.

The ten colours of our chime candles and what each is traditionally used for. White can stand in for any of them.

    Why Candle Colour Matters

Candle magic is one of the oldest and simplest forms of spellwork. A candle brings the element of fire into a ritual, and a small flame is a wonderful thing to focus on. Choosing a colour adds another layer: the colour carries the intention, so the candle becomes a little picture of what you are asking for.

In older traditions, colour followed the planets. Each of the seven classical planets had its own colours, and each also ruled a day of the week, so a spell could be timed to the matching day. Choosing a candle colour for a particular purpose became especially popular in the twentieth century, building on those much older planetary colours. Our own chime candles are also named after the chakra colours, a rainbow scheme that became popular in the West from the 1970s.

The one thing to remember. If you cannot find the colour you want, use white. White can stand in for any colour. You can also set a white candle in a coloured glass or holder to bring the colour in.

Candle Colour Meanings, One by One

    White

For: cleansing, purity, protection, peace, truth, spirituality and new beginnings. White can be used for any purpose at all.

Day: Monday, the day of the Moon. Chime candle: Protection White.

    Black

For: protection, strong boundaries, breaking through obstacles, patience, endurance, grounding and quiet power. Black is a serious colour, kept for when you need firm walls rather than everyday use.

Day: Saturday, the day of Saturn, ideally under a waning moon. Chime candle: Transformation Black.

    Red

For: courage, energy, strength, passion, enthusiasm and conquering fear. Use red with care: it is a strong, fiery colour and its effects can be unpredictable, so many people pair it with white.

Day: Tuesday, the day of Mars. Chime candle: Root Chakra Red.

    Pink

For: love of every kind, self love, friendship, family, joy, romance, affection and peace. Pink is the traditional colour for weddings and engagements. It is for strengthening love, never for drawing in a particular person against their will.

Day: Friday, the day of Venus. Chime candle: Goddess Pink.

    Orange

For: confidence, joy, encouragement, success, career and business goals, attracting good luck and new ideas.

Day: Sunday, the day of the Sun, or Wednesday. Chime candle: Sacral Chakra Orange.

    Yellow

For: communication, study, exams, concentration, memory, writing, creativity, friendship, travel and breaking old habits.

Day: Wednesday, the day of Mercury, or Sunday. Chime candle: Solar Plexus Chakra Yellow.

    Green

For: abundance, money, luck, growth, employment, harmony, calm and renewal. Green is often paired with orange for business and career.

Day: Friday, the day of Venus. Chime candle: Heart Chakra Green.

    Light blue

For: calm, peace, patience, understanding, honest communication and a settled mind. Light blue is a soft, spiritual blue.

Day: Monday, the day of the Moon. Chime candle: Throat Chakra Light Blue.

    Dark blue

For: wisdom, intuition, loyalty, reflection and deeper spiritual values. Strong blues are said to sharpen clear thought.

Day: Thursday, the day of Jupiter. Chime candle: Third Eye Chakra Dark Blue.

    Purple and violet

For: intuition, wisdom, spiritual and psychic work, ambition, dignity and authority. Violet is linked with higher thought and spiritual questions.

Day: Thursday, the day of Jupiter. Chime candle: Crown Chakra Violet.

    Brown, gold and silver

Brown is for grounding, home, steadiness, friendship, finding lost things and protecting animals; its day is Saturday. Gold is for success, confidence and quick luck; its day is Sunday. Silver and grey are for intuition, dreams and calm; their day is Monday. If you do not have these colours, use white with a matching crystal beside it.

Candle Colours and the Days of the Week

The seven days of the week are named after the seven planets of old astrology, and each has its own colours and themes. Matching your colour to its day is a simple way to add strength to a spell.

    • Sunday, the Sun: yellow, gold, orange; success, confidence, ambition
    • Monday, the Moon: white, lavender, grey, silver; home, family, peace, intuition, protection
    • Tuesday, Mars: red; courage, energy, facing challenges
    • Wednesday, Mercury: yellow and purple; communication, study, writing, short journeys
    • Thursday, Jupiter: dark blue and purple; luck, growth, generosity, learning
    • Friday, Venus: pink, with green; love, friendship, beauty, money
    • Saturday, Saturn: black, brown, grey; protection, boundaries, big changes

One small tradition to know: Saturday is not usually a day for making amulets or charms you will carry.

How to Prepare a Spell Candle

    1. Use a fresh candle. A new candle that has not been used for anything else is best, and ideally one candle for one purpose.
    2. Cleanse it. Roll the candle gently in a saucer of sea salt and brush it clean, asking out loud that it be cleared.
    3. Dress it. With a drop of olive oil or grapeseed oil, rub from the top of the candle down to the middle, then from the bottom up to the middle. Feel the wax warm under your fingers and say what the candle is for. You can roll it lightly in a pinch of a matching dried herb: rosemary for protection, rose petals for love, basil for money.
    4. Light it with intention. Set it safely in a holder, take a few slow breaths, light it, and speak your intention out loud.
    5. Let it burn. Stay with it. Small chime candles usually burn down in an hour or two, which makes them ideal for one sitting.
    6. Snuff, never blow. If you need to stop, snuff the candle or pinch it out with wet fingertips rather than blowing it out. Traditionally, blowing a spell candle out scatters the intention.

Some people like to picture their intention in the flame as it burns; others prefer to listen to the faint crackle of the wick, or hold a crystal and feel it warm in their hand. Each is a lovely way to stay with the candle.

A Simple Chime Candle Spell for Any Intention

    1. Choose your colour from the guide above, and if you can, wait for its day of the week.
    2. Write your intention on a small slip of paper in a single sentence.
    3. Cleanse and dress the candle, then set it in a candle holder with the folded slip underneath the holder.
    4. Light it and say your intention aloud three times.
    5. Sit with it for a few minutes, breathing slowly.
    6. Let it burn down safely while you are in the room, or snuff it and finish another evening.
    7. Keep the slip in a notebook and look back at it at the next full moon.

Questions People Ask About Candle Colours

What colour candle is for protection?

White for everyday protection and cleansing, black for strong boundaries. Our home protection spell uses either.

What colour candle is for love?

Pink for love, self love and friendship, with red, used carefully, for passion. Friday is the traditional day.

What colour candle is for money?

Green, often paired with orange or gold. Thursday and Friday are the traditional days.

Can I use a white candle instead?

Yes. White can stand in for any colour.

Why should you not blow out a spell candle?

Traditionally, blowing out a spell candle is said to scatter the intention, so candles are snuffed or pinched out instead. If a candle goes out on its own during a spell, some take it as a sign to wait.

What does a black candle mean?

Protection, boundaries, endurance and quiet strength. It is a protective colour, not a harmful one.

  • Angel Numbers Explained: What 111, 444 and 1111 Mean, and Where the Idea Comes From

Angel Numbers Explained: What 111, 444 and 1111 Mean, and Where the Idea Comes From

Angel numbers explained: what 111, 444 and 1111 are said to mean, where the idea really comes from, and the stones that sit with each one

You glance at the clock and it says 11:11. The receipt comes to £4.44. A number plate at the lights reads 777. Angel numbers are the idea that these repeating numbers are small messages, and millions of people search for their meaning every month. This guide explains each one plainly, tells you honestly where the idea comes from, and pairs every number with stones you can hold.

    What Are Angel Numbers?

Angel numbers are repeating number patterns, such as 111, 222, 444 or 11:11, that some people take as a sign or a nudge when they keep noticing them. The meaning given to each one comes from numerology, the very old habit of linking numbers with qualities: one with beginnings, two with partnership, four with steady foundations, and so on. When a number repeats, the idea goes, that quality is turned up loud.

You do not need to believe that anyone is sending you a message to find this useful. A number that keeps catching your eye is, at the very least, a moment where you are paying attention. Angel numbers give that moment a question to go with it.

The number is the bell. What you notice when it rings is the message.

For 1111, the 111 ball is the one to choose: it carries the same energy of new beginnings and intuition. For a daily reminder, the angel number affirmation cards with wooden stand sit beautifully on a desk or altar.

The Honest History of Angel Numbers

This is the part most angel number sites leave out, and it is worth knowing.

    Number meanings are very old

Giving numbers a character goes back thousands of years. Greek writers credited the followers of Pythagoras, in the sixth century BC, with treating numbers as the hidden pattern behind music and the heavens. Hebrew gematria and Greek isopsephy gave every letter a number value, so words could be added up and compared. Medieval and Renaissance writers carried those ideas on, and the sacred geometry of squares, triangles and circles grew from the same root.

The numerology we use today is about a hundred years old

The system most people now call numerology, where you add up the letters of your name and the digits of your birthday, was largely shaped by one woman, Mrs L. Dow Balliett of Atlantic City in the United States. Her books on number vibration came out between 1908 and 1918, and her student Juno Jordan carried the work on through the twentieth century. It borrows the name of Pythagoras, but the method itself is modern.

    Angel numbers are newer still

The phrase angel numbers comes from the American writer Doreen Virtue, whose book Angel Numbers, written with Lynnette Brown, was published in 2005 and followed by Angel Numbers 101 in 2008. That is where the familiar list of meanings for 111, 444 and the rest was set down. In 2017 Virtue publicly turned away from her earlier spiritual teaching, and she has since said she regrets creating angel numbers.

So angel numbers are a modern language, built on an ancient habit. That does not make them worthless. Plenty of meaningful practices are young. It simply means you are free to hold the meanings lightly, keep the ones that ring true, and let the rest go.

Why the same number keeps appearing

There is also a plain explanation for the feeling that a number is following you. Once something matters to you, your attention starts catching it everywhere, which psychologists call the frequency illusion. You see 11:11 because you are now the kind of person who notices 11:11. Many people find that comforting rather than disappointing: the sign is real, it is just coming from inside you.

    How Numerology Reads a Number

Each single digit carries a quality. Longer numbers are usually read in two ways: by the digit that repeats, and by adding the digits together until one is left. Two numbers, 11 and 22, are traditionally left as they are and called master numbers.

    • 1 beginnings and independence
    • 2 partnership and patience
    • 3 growth and expression
    • 4 foundations and protection, the four seasons, the four directions
    • 5 change and the five senses
    • 6 home, care and responsibility
    • 7 reflection and inner wisdom, the seven days of the week
    • 8 abundance and things coming full circle
    • 9 completion and endings

Read a number twice: by the digit that repeats, then by adding it down. 1111 adds down to 4, which is why it sits so closely with 444.

What to Do When You Keep Seeing a Number

You do not need to look anything up in the moment. This takes less than a minute, wherever you are, and all it asks is a pause.

    1. Stop for one breath. Breathe in through the nose and let a slow breath out through the mouth.
    2. Say the number quietly. Under your breath is fine: “four four four”.
    3. Ask one question. “What was I just thinking about?” Most people find the number arrived at the same moment as a particular worry, plan or person.
    4. Notice where it sits. Is the feeling in your chest, your stomach, your throat? Rest a hand there.
    5. Write it down later. Keep a note of the date, the number and the thought. Over a few weeks the pattern usually tells you more than any list of meanings.

One gentle rule. Angel numbers are a prompt to pause, never a reason to make a big decision on their own. If a number nudges you towards something important, give it the same careful thought you would give anything else.

    Working With Stones and Numbers

A small stone gives a number somewhere to land. Choose the stone for the number you keep seeing, carry it for a week, and touch it whenever the number turns up. The weight in your hand becomes the reminder.

For a home practice, some people lay out the same number of stones as the digit: four tumblestones in a square for 444, seven in a line for 777. Light a chime candle beside them in a colour that suits the number, white for protection and new starts, pink for partnership, green for abundance, and let it burn down while you write in your journal.

    Angel Numbers and Your Birthday

Many people find a number keeps turning up that matches their own birthday or life path number, which is all the digits of your full date of birth added together. Someone born on 4 April might see 444 everywhere; someone whose life path adds to 7 might keep finding 777. If a number feels personal, it may be worth working out your own and seeing whether they match.

Questions People Ask About Angel Numbers

    Are angel numbers real?

Repeating numbers are real, and noticing them is real. Whether they are messages is a matter of belief. The meanings themselves are a modern system, set down in the 2000s, built on much older number symbolism.

    Are angel numbers religious?

They grew out of the New Age movement rather than any one religion, and people of many paths and none use them. You can work with them simply as a prompt to pause.

What is the most powerful angel number?

There is no ranking in the tradition. The number that matters is the one you keep seeing. In the UK, 444, 1111 and 777 are the most searched.

What does it mean if I see 11:11 on the clock?

11:11 is the best known of all. It is linked with pausing, wishing and paying attention to the moment. Our 1111 guide covers it in full.

    Is 666 a bad number?

In angel number lists, 666 is usually read as a reminder to bring your thoughts back into balance, linked to the six of home and care. Its darker reputation comes from a verse in the Bible’s Book of Revelation, not from numerology.

Stones for the Numbers You Keep Seeing

Every stone in this guide is on the shelf now as a small tumblestone, from hematite and Whitby jet for 444 to howlite for 1111. Pair one with a chime candle and a notebook to keep track of when your number appears.

  • New Moon in Virgo Ritual: Candle, Journal and 7 Stones for 11 September

New Moon in Virgo Ritual: Candle, Journal and 7 Stones for 11 September

A gentle new moon in Virgo ritual for Friday 11 September, with seven easy stones

The moon goes dark in the small hours of Friday morning, and for once the sky is completely calm. No eclipse. Nothing borrowed. If August knocked you about a bit, this is the soft landing. Here is a new moon in Virgo ritual you can do in twenty minutes with a candle, a notebook and a few small stones.

    The Moon at a Glance

    • New moon exact: 4.27am, Friday 11 September 2026
    • Sign: Virgo, an earth sign, the practical one
    • Eclipse: none, and none again until 2028
    • Day of the week: Friday, which has always belonged to Venus
    • Do the ritual: any time from Friday morning to Sunday evening
    • Cycle ends: the Harvest Moon, 5.49pm on Saturday 26 September

Never Done This Before? Start Here

If you have landed on this page because the words new moon keep appearing on your phone and you are quietly curious, welcome. This is a new moon ritual for beginners as much as for anyone who has kept the practice for years. You have not missed anything and you are not behind.

Here is the whole idea in one paragraph. Once a month the moon disappears from our sky for a night or two. Nothing is wrong. It has moved between us and the sun, so the lit side faces away and there is nothing to catch the light. People have used that dark night as a starting line for a very long time, and over the following fortnight the moon fills back up again. Beginning something as the light returns is the oldest and simplest logic there is, and your body tends to agree with it before your head does.

What you work with, and what each thing is for

A new moon ritual is not decoration, and the tools are not props. Each one is doing a specific job. Once you know what those jobs are you can build a practice that belongs to you rather than copying somebody else’s.

    A candle

The candle gives the intention somewhere to go. Fire has carried will and action in almost every tradition that uses it, and striking a match is what turns an ordinary Friday morning into a marked one. Colour matters and it is simple enough to learn. Green belongs to earth, growth and steady increase, which makes it the right choice for a Virgo moon. White stands in for anything at all, so a white candle is never wrong. A small spell candle is sized for a single working rather than a whole evening, which is exactly what you want here, and a taller ritual candle is the one to reach for if you are marking something larger.

    A journal

This is the part most people skip and it is the part that does the work. Saying something out loud has force. Writing it down is what makes it checkable a fortnight later, and checking is the difference between a practice and a nice feeling. A journal you keep for the moon alone becomes something quite unexpected after a year, because you can look back and see which cycles you kept faith with and which you let go. Nothing else in the practice teaches you as much about yourself as your own handwriting from six months ago.

    A stone

The stone holds the intention in the room after the flame has gone out. It is the reminder still sitting there on the dull Tuesday when the enthusiasm has worn off, which is the day that actually decides things.

    A sound

One clear sound opens the working and one closes it, so your body knows when the practice has started and knows when it is complete. Without that ending, the mind tends to leave the working half open and carry it about all week.

Start with a candle and a notebook. Add stones when you are ready. Both of those are real practice, and one is not a lesser version of the other.

Why This New Moon in Virgo Ritual Is Worth Doing

August was a lot. There were two eclipses, one on the twelfth and one on the twenty eighth, and if you tried to start anything in between you will probably have watched it wobble. That was not you being flaky. Eclipses are strange months, and starting something in one is a bit like planting seeds in ground you have not looked at yet.

The Virgo new moon is the opposite of that. Nothing is interfering with it. It is the plainest, steadiest new moon of the whole year, and plain is exactly what you want when you are actually beginning something rather than announcing it.

Virgo, the sign it lands in, gets described as the tidy one, which sells it short. Virgo is really about noticing. Working out what genuinely matters and what only feels urgent. It is the friend who asks the annoying, useful question about how your week is actually going.

The sky has finally stopped shouting. This is the month to say something small and mean it.

There is one trap, and it is worth knowing before you begin. Virgo will happily hand you a list of eleven improvements and the enthusiasm to start nine of them. By the third week you are running a small admin department instead of living differently. One change. That is the whole instruction.

What the Sky Is Doing, in Plain Words

You do not need to know any of this to do the ritual. It is here because it explains the mood of the fortnight, and knowing why a month feels the way it does is oddly comforting.

This one is about choosing, not adding

Virgo is looked after by the planet Mercury, and Mercury is currently sitting in Libra, the sign that weighs things up. So the question this month is not what should I add to my life. It is what am I choosing this over. Most routines fail because they were quietly competing with something else you also wanted, and nobody ever said so out loud.

The sky supports things that last

Two of the slower planets, Jupiter and Saturn, are on good terms right now. Jupiter opens things up and Saturn keeps a shape, and when those two agree it favours something that has to survive past the first exciting week. Pick something you have already half started rather than a shiny new project.

There is a tender spot, so be kind about it

Venus changes sign around this moon and hits a sore angle as it goes. In real life that shows up as a nagging feeling that you have to earn the right to rest, or that wanting to improve something means you were failing before. You were not. Notice that feeling and please do not build your intention on top of it, because nothing set from that place ever sticks.

Energy comes in waves this month

Mars, the get up and go planet, is in a soft and moody spot. Some days will be brilliant and some will not. Make the change small enough that a rough Tuesday does not end it.

Where This Moon Sits on the Wheel of the Year

This moon lands in the quietest stretch of the whole wheel, and it is my favourite bit of the year to explain.

We are past Lughnasadh, or Lúnasa in Irish, the first harvest at the beginning of August, when the grain came in. We are not yet at the autumn equinox on 23 September, the second harvest, when the fruit and the late crops follow and the light tips over into the dark half of the year. So the eleventh sits in the gap between the cutting and the balancing. In old farming terms this was the counting stretch. Not sowing, not celebrating. Working out what you actually have.

You could not ask for a better fit with a Virgo moon, and it is not a coincidence so much as the same practical instinct arriving from two directions.

The honest bit about the Wheel of the Year

Lughnasadh is genuinely old. It appears in early Irish literature, and Máire MacNeill spent years in the middle of the twentieth century collecting accounts of the hilltop gatherings that were still happening in Ireland within living memory. The four Irish fire festivals, Imbolc, Bealtaine, Lúnasa and Samhain, have real depth behind them.

The eightfold wheel we all use now is younger than that. The solstices and equinoxes were folded in alongside the four fire festivals in the middle of the twentieth century, which is why the wheel feels so neat. And the name Mabon, which you will see on every autumn equinox post you read this month, was chosen by the writer Aidan Kelly in 1974. He borrowed it from Mabon ap Modron, a figure out of Welsh story whose name means something like the son of the mother.

It is a lovely name and there is no reason to stop using it. It is simply about fifty years old rather than fifteen hundred, and you are unlikely to be told that anywhere else.

None of this makes the practice weaker. Knowing which parts are ancient and which parts we built recently is what makes you a practitioner rather than a repeater.

Timing a Working to the Moon Is the Genuinely Old Part

Here is the part that always gives me a shiver, because it is the bit we are actually still doing on Friday morning.

In 1897 a bronze tablet was dug up at Coligny in eastern France, broken into seventy three pieces. It is written in the Gaulish language using Roman letters and dates from around the end of the second century, and it is a calendar. Not a solar one. It runs on the moon, sixty two months laid out across five years, each month either twenty nine or thirty days, and each one split down the middle into two halves.

A bright half and a dark half, marked by a word usually read as Atenoux. A whole people organising their year around the fact that a month has two different characters depending on whether the light is growing or fading. If you have ever wondered whether waxing and waning work is a modern invention, there is your answer, cast in bronze. You can read about the Coligny calendar and see photographs of the fragments.

Julius Caesar, writing about the Gauls, noticed something similar and found it strange enough to record. They counted time in nights rather than days, so the night came first and the day followed after it. Every one of us who works a new moon in the small hours is doing something that would have looked entirely ordinary to them.

And Pliny the Elder, describing the druids cutting mistletoe from the oak, says the rite was performed with great care on the sixth night of the moon, which he understood to be where their months and years began. Whatever else is uncertain about that account, and plenty is, one thing is not. It is a working, deliberately timed to a phase of the moon, written down by an outsider who thought it worth explaining.

Scholars still disagree about exactly which phase the Gaulish month opened on. What nobody disputes is that it opened by the moon.

The crystals are a modern layer. The candle is old. Choosing the right night is the oldest part of all of it.

    One note on moon names

The full moon that closes this cycle on 26 September gets called both the Harvest Moon and the Corn Moon. Harvest Moon is properly old in these islands and describes something real, the run of evenings around the equinox when the moon rises close to sunset and gives extra working light for bringing crops in. Corn Moon arrived here fairly recently from American almanac lists. Use whichever you like. They are just not the same age.

A New Moon in Virgo Ritual

Twenty minutes. Nothing to hold behind your eyes, no special words, nothing you have to buy. It runs on sound, on breath, and on what your body notices, which is a far more reliable guide than most people expect.

    What you need

A green or white candle and something safe to stand it in. Your journal. One stone in your left hand. A way of making a single sound, which can be a bell, a singing bowl, a wine glass and a fingertip, or your own humming voice.

Do not tidy the room first. On this moon in particular, the tidying is the avoidance.

    The sequence

    • Light the candle. Do this first, before you settle, and say nothing while you do it. Lighting it is how the working starts.
    • Settle. Sit down and stop managing your breath. Let it find its own length. This takes longer than you think, so give it a couple of minutes.
    • Listen out, then in. Send your hearing as far away as it will reach, to the furthest sound you can find. Then bring it back to the nearest one. Three times, slowly. That movement from far to near is the whole sign in miniature, and it settles the mind better than being told to relax ever does.
    • Name the friction. Say out loud one thing in an ordinary week that costs you more than it should. Not a flaw. Not a resolution. Just a friction. If several turn up, say them all, then keep the one that made your jaw tighten.
    • Find it in your body. Notice where you felt that sentence as you said it. Throat, chest, stomach, shoulders. Rest your hand there for a few breaths and do not analyse it.
    • Say the one change. One sentence. Present tense. Small enough to be a bit boring.
    • Write it in your journal. Date the page. One sentence is enough, though if more wants to come out, let it. Tuck a stone on top of the open page or close the book on it.
    • Make your sound. One bell, one note, one clap. Let it ring all the way out to nothing.
    • Stay for the quiet afterwards. That silence is part of the practice, not the gap before the next bit. Virgo will want to get on with something. Let it wait.
    • Close it. Let a small candle burn down where you can see it, or snuff it and relight it on the following two mornings if you want to carry the working across the whole window. Never leave a burning candle unattended, and never blow one out at the end of a working. A snuffer or a damp fingertip keeps the intention where you put it.

One change, not a list. This is the rule that decides whether the fortnight works. If a second thing feels genuinely urgent, it will still be urgent at the next new moon on 10 October, and you can start it then.

Come back to it on 26 September. The Harvest Moon is the natural end of this cycle. Take the paper out, read it once, and mark it honestly as kept, changed or dropped. All three are useful. Only pretending is not.

A Simple Crystal Grid for the Virgo Moon

A crystal grid is just stones arranged in a pattern with a purpose, laid out where you will see them for a fortnight. It is a visible reminder more than anything mystical, and a reminder is exactly what a new habit needs.

Seven stones here, all little tumbles and rough pieces rather than anything grand. If you have four of them, build it with four and say the missing ones aloud as you leave their spaces empty. That works. A grid made from what you already own beats one you waited to finish.

F B H Q U S E Unakite Smoky quartz Epidote Bloodstone Hematite Clear quartz Green fluorite at the centre How the circuit runs Centre to way stone Way stone outward F Green fluorite, the sorting B Bloodstone, staying power H Hematite, follow through Q Clear quartz, the record U Unakite, slow growth S Smoky quartz, ground E Epidote, increase Nothing in the outer ring receives from the centre directly. F B H Q U S E Unakite Smoky quartz Epidote Bloodstone Hematite Clear quartz Green fluorite at the centre How the circuit runs Centre to way stone Way stone outward F Green fluorite, the sorting B Bloodstone, staying power H Hematite, follow through Q Clear quartz, the record U Unakite, slow growth. S Smoky quartz, ground. E Epidote, increase.
Seven stones. The solid lines run from the centre out to the three middle stones. The dashed lines carry on from each of those to the stone beyond it, so nothing in the outer ring is fed by the centre directly.

    The stone in the middle

    Green fluorite, first choice

Green fluorite takes the middle because this month is about sorting rather than wanting. Fluorite grows in neat little cubes, which is tidiness you can actually hold, and the green end of the family is the earthy one. It suits a moon that is asking you to choose.

Or swap the centre, and here is what changes

Rough clear quartz in the middle turns the grid into a plain amplifier. Choose this one if you already know exactly what your one change is and you just want the grid to carry it.

Rough smoky quartz settles you before it sorts anything. Choose this one if August left you frazzled and the honest first job is simply coming back down.

The three middle stones, and what they carry

These three sit on the inner triangle and they are the connecting layer. Everything the centre holds passes through one of them before it reaches the outer ring, and each one changes it slightly on the way past. That is why the drawing has two kinds of line.

    Bloodstone, at the top

Bloodstone jasper is the old harvest stone and it holds the top spot because it carries your decision into staying power. Anything that only lasts while you are excited about it was never really a change. This is the corner that asks about week four rather than week one. No bloodstone? Mookaite sits here beautifully and is earthier still.

    Hematite, lower left

Hematite is surprisingly heavy for its size, which is rather the point. It carries the decision into repetition, the unglamorous business of doing the same small thing on a day you cannot be bothered. Swap in rough black tourmaline if that is what is in your pouch.

    Clear quartz, lower right

Clear quartz keeps the record. It carries your sentence into memory, so that on the twenty sixth you are checking against what you actually said rather than what you have since decided you meant. Any quartz will do this. Say the sentence aloud once as you put it down.

    The three outer stones

    Unakite, at the top

Unakite is a slow stone for slow growth, one step at a time, which is why it sits at the far end of the staying power line. Serpentine will stand in.

    Smoky quartz, lower left

Smoky quartz grounds the repetition so it does not curdle into worry, which is the specific way a Virgo intention tends to go wrong. If the practice starts to feel like an inspection, this is the corner to sit with. Black obsidian or a second hematite will hold the spot.

    Epidote, lower right

Epidote increases whatever is already there, which is a warning as much as a promise. Whichever habit you feed this fortnight is the one that grows, including the ones you would rather not mention. It sits at the end of the record line because it is the corner that shows you the result. Dragon stone stands in nicely, since epidote is part of what it is made of.

Building up? Start with three. Fluorite in the middle, hematite as the single connecting stone, smoky quartz on the outside. Clear quartz will stand in anywhere in this grid as long as you say aloud what it is standing in for, which is a working in its own right rather than a shortcut. Add the other four next cycle. A grid you actually build and sit with beats a perfect one you are still waiting to finish.

Two Small Extras, If You Fancy Them

    It falls on a Friday

Friday has belonged to Venus for a very long time, and Venus is the one who deals in worth. Given where Venus is sitting this week, the Friday flavour is not the soft romantic one. It is closer to asking what something is genuinely worth to you, which suits a moon about choosing one thing and letting the rest wait.

    And the numbers

The eleventh reduces to two, the number of choosing between things. The whole date reduces to three, the number of what actually gets made. Choose between two, produce one. Take it or leave it, but it is a fair summary of the month.

    Questions to Sit With Afterwards

    • What in an ordinary week costs me more than it should, and how long have I known?
    • What am I choosing this over? Name the other thing honestly.
    • Is this one change, or is it a whole system wearing the coat of one change?
    • Where did I feel it in my body when I said it out loud?
    • What am I already feeding without ever deciding to?

Questions We Get Asked About the New Moon

What time is the new moon in September 2026?

4.27am on Friday 11 September, in UK clock time. You will see American sites giving the evening of 10 September, and they are not wrong, they are simply writing for a different time zone. We give British time on every moon post and check it against the Royal Observatory before publishing, because a ritual timed to the wrong evening is a small thing that quietly matters.

Do I have to be awake at the exact minute?

No, and almost nobody is. The influence of a new moon runs for roughly two days, so any time from Friday morning to Sunday evening works. If you like precision, do it as close to the Friday as you can manage.

What colour candle should I use for a new moon?

White is the universal choice and always correct. Beyond that, match the colour to the sign. This moon is in an earth sign, so green for growth and steady increase is the natural fit. Brown works too if you want the grounding rather than the growth.

What crystals are best for a Virgo new moon?

Green fluorite for sorting and clear thought, bloodstone for staying power, hematite for follow through, and smoky quartz for grounding. Those four cover most of what a Virgo new moon asks for. The full seven stone crystal grid is set out above, along with what to swap in if you are missing a stone.

Is it too late if I miss it?

Not at all. The next new moon is on 10 October and the cycle begins again, which is rather the point of working with the moon in the first place. Nothing about this practice punishes you for being late.

Can I set more than one intention?

You can, and on most moons we would say go ahead. Not this one. Virgo rewards a single clear change and quietly buries a long list, so keep the others for October.

    One Last Thing

The moon goes dark on Friday morning whether anyone marks it or not. Lighting a candle, writing one honest sentence and putting a stone on top of it is a very old habit and a kind one, and the people who keep it month after month are the ones who end up with something to show for it. That is the whole practice. Everything else is detail.

    Everything for Friday Morning

Green fluorite, bloodstone, hematite, clear quartz, unakite, smoky quartz and epidote for the grid. A green spell candle for the flame and a journal to keep the cycle in. All in the Grove now and posted in time for Friday if you order in the next day or so.

  • New Moon in Leo Ritual: 5 Stones for the 12 August Eclipse

New Moon in Leo Ritual: 5 Stones for the 12 August Eclipse

Why the usual intention setting is the wrong tool this month, and what to do instead

The new moon falls at 6.37pm on Wednesday 12 August, at twenty degrees of Leo. If you keep a monthly practice, this is the month to change it. Here is a new moon in Leo ritual built for what this particular moon is actually doing.

    The Moon at a Glance

    • New moon exact: 6.37pm BST, Wednesday 12 August 2026
    • Degree: 20 degrees and 2 minutes of Leo
    • Also: a solar eclipse, falling at the South Node
    • Best window for the ritual: the evening of the 12th, or any time up to the evening of the 14th

    Why This One Is Different

Every new moon carries the same instruction. Begin something. Write it down. Say what you want.

Not this one, and it is worth understanding why rather than simply being told.

A solar eclipse is a new moon with the volume turned up, and this one sits on the South Node, which is the releasing end of the lunar axis. North Node eclipses read as intake, as something arriving. South Node eclipses read as completion, as something being set down.

So the ordinary new moon ritual is not weak here. It is pointed the wrong way. Writing out a list of wants on a moon whose whole character is release is like planting seed on a waning moon and wondering why nothing swelled. The moon is not the same tool on every night of the month, and this is one of the nights that proves it.

This moon does not want a list of what you want. It wants the name of what is already over.

    Four Points in One Sign

The other reason this lunation feels louder than most is that Leo is crowded.

0°5°10°15°20°25°30°LEOMercuryhow you say itJupiterhow big you let it beSun and Moonthe eclipse itselfSouth Nodewhat is being set downFour points in one sign. That is why this one feels loud.LEO0°5°10°15°20°25°30°Mercuryhow you say itJupiterhow big you let it beSun and Moonthe eclipse itselfSouth Nodewhat is being set downFour points in one sign.
Mercury, Jupiter, the Sun and Moon together, and the South Node, all in one sign at once.

Mercury at five degrees puts the emphasis on how you say things, and Leo says things with the volume up. Expect conversations this fortnight to land harder than intended, in both directions.

Jupiter at nine degrees enlarges whatever it touches. In Leo that means the story you tell about yourself gets bigger, which is wonderful when the story is generous and exhausting when it is a grievance.

The Sun and Moon together at twenty degrees are the eclipse itself. This is the point where the light goes.

The South Node at nearly thirty degrees is the end of the sign, and it marks what is being set down rather than picked up.

Four points in one sign is a lot of one flavour. Leo is the sign of being seen, of performance in the honest sense, of taking up the space you actually occupy. With this much of it at once, whatever you have been performing tends to become obvious, first to other people and then, usually a few days later, to you.

    What Leo Is Really Asking

Leo has a reputation for showing off, which misses the point rather badly.

The Leo question is not do people admire you. It is whether the version of yourself you put in front of people is one you recognise. Leo goes wrong not through vanity but through performance, through keeping up a presentation that stopped being true a while ago and has become a job of work to maintain.

An eclipse in Leo tends to take the effort out of your hands. Something you were holding up stops being holdable, usually because you are simply too tired to keep it up, and the relief afterwards is considerable and slightly embarrassing.

That is what the ritual below is for. Not stopping it. Naming it, so you are ahead of it rather than behind.

A New Moon in Leo Ritual

This runs on sound, on breath and on what your body notices. It needs no visualising and nothing you have to buy. Fifteen minutes, outdoors if you can, by an open window if not.

    Before you begin

Take one stone from the list below and hold it in your left hand. Have something to write with, and one candle if you like a candle. Do not tidy first. The tidying is avoidance.

    The sequence

    • Settle. Stand or sit and stop managing your breath. Let it find its own length. This usually takes longer than people expect, so give it a minute.
    • Listen outward. Send your hearing as far as it reaches, to the furthest sound you can find. Then let it come back to the nearest one. Three times, slowly.
    • Name what is finished. Say it aloud. Not a wish, not a plan. One thing that is already over that you have been carrying as though it were not. If nothing comes, ask instead what you are tired of holding up, and say that.
    • Feel where it sits. Notice where in your body you registered that sentence as you said it. Throat, chest, jaw, stomach. Do not analyse it. Just put your hand there for a few breaths.
    • Write one line. Not a list. One line, the same sentence you said aloud. Fold it and put it under the stone.
    • Make a sound. A bell, a bowl, a hummed note, a single clap. Let it run all the way out to nothing.
    • Stay for the silence. This is the part of the ritual, not the gap before the next part. Leo wants to fill a silence. Let this one sit.

Leave the paper where it is until 28 August. That is the lunar eclipse that closes this season, and it is the natural point to finish what began here.

On that morning, take the paper out and read it once. If it is still true, burn it safely or bury it. If it has already stopped being true, which happens more often than you would think, simply throw it away without ceremony. Both are correct endings.

    Crystals for This New Moon

Five, and you do not need all of them. One will do.

    Carnelian

Carnelian is the Leo stone for this lunation, warm and orange and unmistakably solar. Hold it for the naming. It suits the part of this that takes nerve, because saying aloud what is finished is harder than writing down what you want.

    Black obsidian

Black obsidian is volcanic glass and the stone of the honest look. It is the one to choose if you suspect you already know what is finished and have been avoiding saying so. Not comfortable. Accurate.

    Smoky quartz

Rough smoky quartz is the gentler centre. Choose it if eclipse weeks tend to leave you rattled, or if you are doing this ritual at the end of an already difficult fortnight. It settles rather than confronts.

    Mookaite

Mookaite is earthy and red and yellow, and it is the practical one. It suits the days afterwards rather than the night itself, when something has been named and you have to decide what to actually do about it.

    Selenite

Selenite is for afterwards. Rest whichever stone you used on it overnight once you have finished. A stone that has held a naming wants clearing before it does anything else.

One note about charging. Do not set your stones out to charge on this moon or on 28 August.

Cleansing is fine and many people prefer an eclipse for it, since an eclipse suits taking away. Charging is the one to hold off on, because the condition of the moon decides what a working does and an eclipse is not a night you can read. The next full moon with no shadow in it is 26 September.

If You Want to Set Intentions Anyway

You are perfectly entitled to, and nothing bad will happen. But there is a better option than forcing it.

Wait. The new moon on 11 September falls in Virgo with no eclipse anywhere near it, and it is a far better night for beginning something. Virgo is practical, detailed and unbothered by drama, which is exactly what you want when you are actually starting work rather than announcing it.

Or reframe rather than reschedule. Every ending clears a space, so instead of writing what you want, write what the thing you have named was taking up. Time, attention, a room in the house, a certain amount of pretending. Naming the space is a beginning, and it is the honest one available on this particular moon.

    To Sit With Afterwards

    • What am I performing that nobody actually asked me to perform?
    • Where have I been keeping up an old version of myself out of habit rather than choice?
    • What did I feel in my body when I said it aloud, and what does that tell me?
    • What ended a while ago that I have never said had ended?

    Stones for the Naming

Carnelian for the nerve, obsidian for the honesty, selenite for afterwards. All three together cost less than a takeaway.

  • Crystals for a Fresh Start Under the Cancer New Moon

Crystals for a Fresh Start Under the Cancer New Moon

A grounded guide to the 14 July new moon, the stones for it, and a simple practice to mark it

Not every new beginning arrives with a fanfare. Some of the truest ones begin quietly, in private, in the moment you finally admit what you are ready to change. The New Moon in Cancer is exactly that kind of beginning, and it is a lovely time to choose the stones and the words that will keep you company through it.

The Cancer New Moon on 14 July 2026

The New Moon in Cancer reaches us in the early hours of Tuesday the fourteenth of July, at twelve minutes past three in the morning UK time. The Sun and Moon meet in the later degrees of Cancer, with Mercury retrograde sitting close beside them. Cancer is the cardinal water sign, ruled by the Moon itself, so a new moon here is the Moon at its most instinctive and its most emotionally aware. Its themes are home and roots, family and ancestry, and the private inner world that no outer achievement can replace.

A new moon here does not ask you to announce anything. It asks you to go quietly inside and plant something true. And it does not stand alone in the sky. This lunation sits near a larger turning, with the lunar nodes about to shift and a bright Aquarius full moon following at the end of the month. Whatever you seed in the dark of this Cancer moon is being planted right on a threshold, which is part of why it can feel so significant.

    The Mood of This Moon

With Mercury still retrograde and close to the Sun and Moon, this is a reflective beginning rather than a launch. Whatever you plant now is not really a brand new idea. It is something you have been carrying for a while, circling without naming, waiting for the right moment. Mercury turns direct on the twenty third of July, so the days between the new moon and then are for sitting with your intention privately, letting it take root before you act on it or say it aloud. The invitation is to be honest rather than aspirational. Plant what is true, not what merely sounds good.

A fresh start is not always a clean slate. Sometimes it is simply the courage to name what you already know.

    A Quiet Numerology

There is a lovely number woven through the date as well. The fourteenth of July 2026 reduces to twenty two, the builder, the number of foundations laid to last. It is a fitting signature for a Cancer moon, which cares about what holds and what shelters. Twenty two asks you to think in terms of foundations rather than quick wins, to build something you could still be glad of in a year. Plant accordingly.

    The Wheel of the Year

This moon also arrives as the wheel turns toward Lammas at the start of August, the first harvest of the year. There is a quiet rhyme in that. You have spent a season tending something in private, and the first fruits are not far off. A Cancer new moon is the moment to name what you are growing, so that when the harvest comes you know exactly what you were reaching for.

What to Release and What to Plant

Because Cancer has a long memory, this moon often brings old feelings to the surface, patterns learned early that you may have outgrown without noticing. You might gently release a role you have carried too long, a habit of putting your own needs last, or a story about home that no longer fits. In its place, plant something that helps you feel held. A softer daily rhythm. A boundary kept. A return to the people and spaces where your nervous system settles. Small, true, and yours.

Six Stones for a Fresh Start

The stones below were chosen for the inward, rebuilding mood of this moon. Each supports a different part of beginning again, from clearing the old to finding the confidence to move. You do not need all six. Read them through and notice which one you keep returning to, then let that be your companion for the cycle.

    Moldavite

The great clearer. This rare green tektite is the stone people reach for when they are ready to release what has grown stale and shift the path entirely. It is strong and fast, so ease in gently, but few stones match it for opening the ground before a new beginning.

    Libyan Desert Glass

Golden will. Where moldavite clears, this honey coloured glass warms the solar plexus and lends the confidence to act. It is the stone for the moment you stop rebuilding in private and begin to be seen again, on your own terms.

    Carnelian

Fresh momentum. Warm and energising, carnelian brings courage and a spark of vitality back into a life that has been on pause. Work with it when you want to feel your enthusiasm return and your feet start moving again.

    Tigers Eye

Grounded confidence. Its golden bands carry a steady, courageous energy that helps you step out of the shadows without losing your footing. A good stone for calm self belief when you are ready to be visible again.

    Selenite

Clearing the old. Luminous and calm, selenite clears stagnant energy from a space and from your other stones, which makes it the natural place to begin. Clear the ground first, then plant.

    Pyrite

Self belief in action. This bright golden stone reflects the light of ambition and practical courage. Keep it close when you want to turn a quiet intention into steady, real world momentum.

    A Simple New Moon Practice

Close your eyes if you like and picture the dark Moon: a quiet sky, waiting for the first thin crescent. Find a quiet few minutes on the night of the fourteenth or the day after, when the sky is dark and the new cycle has begun.

Begin by clearing the space, passing a piece of selenite through the air or lighting your chosen incense. Then hold your stone in both hands and take five slow breaths, letting each one drop a little lower into the body. When you feel settled, speak one honest intention aloud, just once, and notice where it lands. If it helps, rest a hand on the belly or the heart as you speak, so the body hears it too. Then set the stone somewhere you will see it through the coming cycle, so it keeps quiet company with what you have planted. That is all a new moon really asks. Something true, named in the quiet, and given time to take root.

Making the Most of the Window

A new moon is felt most strongly in the first day or two after it becomes exact, so the fourteenth and fifteenth of July are the heart of it. You do not need to be awake at the precise minute. Setting an intention any time in those first couple of days lands well. From there the Moon begins to wax and grow, and the fortnight that follows is the natural time to take small, steady steps toward what you named. Think of the new moon as the planting and the days after as the quiet watering.

Carrying It Through to the Full Moon

What you plant in the dark of this Cancer moon comes to light at the following full moon, which falls at the end of July in Aquarius. Cancer plants inwardly and privately. Aquarius tends to bring things into the open, toward community and visibility. So the seed you name quietly now may well be ready to be shared or acted on more openly a fortnight later. Keep a note of what you set, and revisit it when the full moon arrives to see what has begun to grow.

    New Moon Journal Prompts

If you like to write your way into a lunation, these prompts are shaped for the inward mood of this Cancer moon. Answer only the ones that catch.

    • What does home actually feel like to me, beyond any building or place?
    • Where in my life have I been putting my own needs last?
    • What have I been quietly rebuilding, and am I ready to name it?
    • Which old feeling has resurfaced lately, and what is it asking me to notice?
    • Who and what helps my nervous system settle, and how do I make more room for them?
    • What foundation do I want to lay now that I could still be glad of in a year?
    • What am I ready to stop carrying that was never mine to hold?
    • If this fresh start were already underway, what would the first small sign be?

  • Gemini New Moon June 2026: A Fresh Page for the Mind

Gemini New Moon June 2026: A Fresh Page for the Mind

A New Moon for clear thinking, honest words, and the quiet decision underneath the noise

The Gemini New Moon arrives at 3.54am BST on Monday 15 June 2026, the dark Moon peaking in the early hours after the night of Sunday 14 June. She is the New Moon of the thinking mind, ruled by Mercury, and her invitation is to clear the mental clutter, find the honest words, and choose one direction from the many.

This guide walks you through the astrology of the lunation, the crystals that match her energy, and a simple body led practice you can do on the evening she begins.

When is the Gemini New Moon in 2026

The Gemini New Moon reaches her exact peak at 3.54am BST on Monday 15 June 2026. Because that is the small hours of the morning, the natural time to work with her is the evening of Sunday 14 June, when the sky is already dark and the Moon is new in all but the final hours. Most people will mark this lunation on the Sunday night, and that is exactly right. The New Moon is invisible either way, her face turned fully from us, so the practice follows the dark sky rather than the clock.

She sits in the middle degrees of Gemini, the mutable air sign of the Twins. This places her firmly in Gemini’s home territory, the realm of the mind, and gives the lunation a clear, quick, curious quality. After the heat and truth telling of the Sagittarius Blue Moon two weeks earlier, this New Moon feels like fresh air through an open window.

Where This Moon Sits in the Cycle

This New Moon is the seed that follows the Blue Moon’s revelation. The Sagittarius Blue Moon on 31 May asked the big question, where are you going and what are you leaving. The Gemini New Moon is where you begin to answer it, not with a grand declaration, but with information, conversation, and the small honest words that move a life forward.

She also sits just days before Litha, the Summer Solstice on Sunday 21 June, the longest day and the peak of the solar year. The timing is lovely. The Gemini New Moon plants a quick growing seed, and within a week the Solstice floods it with the longest light of the year. Whatever you begin on this Moon gets an immediate surge of solar energy behind it.

The Astrology of the Gemini New Moon 2026

Gemini is the third sign of the zodiac, a mutable air sign ruled by Mercury, the planet of mind, message, and movement. Her domain is communication, learning, curiosity, the local world, siblings and neighbours, short journeys, and the endless human business of gathering and sharing information. A New Moon here is a reset for the mind.

Mercury, her ruling planet, colours this lunation strongly. Where Mercury sits in your own chart is where this New Moon will ask you to bring clarity. The themes are mental rather than emotional. What do you need to say. What do you need to learn. What decision have you been avoiding because the noise of too many options has drowned out the quiet knowing underneath. Gemini, at her best, is not scattered at all. She is quick, clear, and precise. That is the energy on offer.

The shadow side of Gemini is the scattered mind, the open browser tabs of the soul. This New Moon offers the chance to close some of them. Not all, Gemini would never allow that, but enough to think clearly again.

What the Gemini New Moon Seeds

Gemini rules the third house in the natural zodiac, the house of communication, learning, and the immediate world around you. A New Moon here invites intentions in any of these areas. The prompts that work best are clear and practical, because Gemini does not respond to vague longing. She responds to specifics.

What conversation have you been putting off, and what would it free up to finally have it. What do you want to learn this season, a skill, a subject, a language, a craft. Where has your thinking become cluttered, and what would one clear decision do for your peace. What do you want to say, in writing or out loud, that you have not yet said.

These are not heavy questions, and they are not meant to be. Gemini is air, light and quick. The work of this Moon is to lighten the mental load, not to add to it. Choose one thing. Gemini will always want to choose ten, so the discipline of this lunation is the choosing of one.

Crystals for the Gemini New Moon

Crystal work for this lunation centres on the throat and the third eye, the communication and clarity centres that Mercury and Gemini govern. The selection below supports clear thinking, honest words, and the focus that turns a scattered mind into a precise one. Each crystal is in stock at Mystic Grove and ready to come home.

Blue Lace Agate tumble stones from Mystic Grove

    Blue Lace Agate

She comes first because she is the communication stone, and communication is the heart of Gemini. Blue Lace Agate is the soft blue banded stone of clear, calm speech, working directly on the throat. She helps the words come, and she helps them come gently, without the rush or the sharpness that a busy Gemini mind can put behind them. She is the stone for the conversation you have been putting off, the one that needs to be had calmly. Hold her at the throat during your practice, or keep her with you on the day you mean to speak.

Clear Quartz tower from Mystic Grove

    Clear Quartz

Clear Quartz is the master of clarity, and clarity is the whole work of this Moon. She is the most versatile stone in any collection, sometimes called the master healer, and her gift is amplification and focus. She takes a scattered intention and sharpens it to a point. On a Gemini New Moon she is the stone to hold while you decide which of the ten things actually matters. Sit with her in the receiving hand and let the mind quieten around a single clear thought.

Natural Citrine point from Mystic Grove

    Citrine

Citrine carries the bright, optimistic side of Gemini, the curiosity and lightness that make this sign such good company. Her warm yellow energy lifts heavy thinking and brings a sense of possibility to the decisions this Moon asks you to make. Where Clear Quartz sharpens, Citrine warms. She is the stone for the part of the Gemini reset that is genuinely joyful, the fresh page, the new idea, the door that opens. Keep her on your desk or wherever you think and write.

Rainbow Moonstone tower from Mystic Grove

    Moonstone

Moonstone belongs on every New Moon altar, and on a Gemini Moon she plays a particular role. Her gentle shimmer mirrors the light of the Moon herself, and her energy is intuition and new beginnings. Where the rest of this selection works the thinking mind, Moonstone holds the quieter knowing underneath the thoughts, the felt sense that often has the answer before the mind catches up. On a sign that lives so much in the head, she is the reminder that the body and the intuition know things too. Hold her when you ask what you truly want, beneath what you think you should want.

Round Selenite charging plate from Mystic Grove

    Selenite

Selenite is the stone of clearing, and a New Moon is a clearing kind of time. Her pure white sheen carries a calm, high vibration that lifts stagnant energy and quietens a busy mind. On a Gemini Moon, where the mental noise can run high, she is the one who creates the silence in which a clear decision can finally be heard. She also cleanses the other crystals on your altar, which makes her the natural keeper of the space. Place her at the centre of your New Moon setup and let her hold the calm.

Tiger's Eye tumble stones from Mystic Grove

    Tiger’s Eye

Tiger’s Eye is the ground beneath the air. Gemini’s gift is quickness, and her challenge is staying with one thing long enough to see it through. Tiger’s Eye steadies the scattered mind and turns a good idea into a followed through plan. She works the solar plexus, the seat of will and focus, and she is the stone for the moment after the decision is made, when the doing begins. If your Gemini New Moon intention needs staying power, she is the one to carry.

A Simple Practice for Sunday 14 June

This practice follows the traditional shape of new moon work: settle, set the intention, seal it. Work it on the evening of Sunday 14 June, once the sky is dark. Read it through once first so you can move through it without checking the page.

Choose your crystal or your small selection. If you are working with one stone, choose Clear Quartz. If you are working with more, set them where you can reach them, and let Selenite sit at the centre.

Find a quiet place, light a candle if you wish, and sit somewhere your body feels supported. Take three long breaths in through the nose, longer out through the mouth. Gemini lives in the head, so this practice begins by coming down out of the head and into the breath. With each out breath, feel the shoulders drop and the jaw soften.

Now do something a little different, suited to this air sign. Notice the sounds around you. The hum of the house, the wind outside, the small noises of the evening. Let your attention rest on hearing rather than thinking for a full minute. This is the Gemini mind settling, moving from generating noise to simply receiving it.

Pick up your crystal and hold her at the throat or in the receiving hand. Notice her weight, her temperature, the way her presence changes the energy of the chest and the head. Stay with the sensation until the mind has quietened a little more.

When you are ready, ask the body, not the racing mind, what one thing wants your attention this cycle. Wait. Gemini will offer ten answers. Let them come and let them go, and keep waiting for the one that has a little more weight than the others, the one that settles rather than sparkles. Trust that one.

Write it down in a single clear sentence. One line. Then ask, what is the first small step. Write that beneath it. Gemini works in steps, not leaps.

Speak both lines aloud, once. Then place the crystal where you will see her every day until the next New Moon. Close the candle. The page is fresh, the seed is planted, and the longest day of the year arrives within the week to light it.

Working With This Moon Toward Litha

The Gemini New Moon plants a quick growing seed, and the timing toward Litha is part of her gift. The Summer Solstice on Sunday 21 June, just six days later, brings the longest day and the peak of the solar year. Whatever you set in motion on this New Moon receives an almost immediate surge of light and energy.

Watch the days between the New Moon and the Solstice. Gemini works quickly, and the answers she brings tend to arrive as conversations, messages, chance pieces of information, a book that falls open at the right page, a remark from a friend that lands harder than they meant it to. Stay open to the small signals. They are how this Moon speaks.

The Strawberry Moon, a Full Moon in Capricorn, follows on Monday 29 June. She will bring the first harvest of what this New Moon planted, asking you to look at the structures and commitments your fresh thinking now needs. The cycle moves from the quick idea of Gemini to the grounded building of Capricorn in a single fortnight.

This lunation is light on the surface and clear underneath. Honour the lightness. Trust the one thing that settles. Choose it, speak it, and let the longest day of the year carry it forward.

  • Taurus New Moon May 2026: A Quiet Pause Before the Blue Moon

Taurus New Moon May 2026: A Quiet Pause Before the Blue Moon

A grounded guide to the May New Moon, her astrology, crystals, and a simple seasonal practice

The Taurus New Moon arrives at 9.01pm BST on Saturday 16 May 2026, sitting at 25 degrees of Taurus, the sign of the Bull. She is the May New Moon for 2026, the pause in the middle of an otherwise full month, and her invitation is to slow down, root in, and choose carefully where to plant.

This guide walks you through the astrology of the lunation, the crystals that match her energy, and a simple body led practice you can do on the evening she peaks.

When is the Moon in Taurus in 2026

The Moon moves into Taurus several times across 2026 in her usual two to three day visits, but two of those visits matter more than the rest because they coincide with the major lunar events of the year. The New Moon in Taurus falls on Saturday 16 May 2026 at 9.01pm BST. The Full Moon in Taurus follows on Sunday 25 October 2026, completing the cycle that the May New Moon began. The May lunation is the seed. The October lunation is the harvest.

This New Moon sits at 25 degrees of Taurus, in the late degrees of the sign. Late degrees carry an additional weight in astrology, a sense of completion that runs alongside the fresh start. Whatever you plant here is not new in the sense of unprecedented. It is the next step in something that has been quietly preparing in you for some time.

Where this Moon sits in May 2026

May holds three significant lunar events, and the Taurus New Moon is the quiet middle. The Scorpio Flower Moon, a Full Moon, opens the month at 7.23pm BST on Friday 1 May. The Taurus New Moon settles in mid month on Saturday 16 May. The rare Blue Moon in Sagittarius, the second Full Moon of the calendar month and the first Blue Moon since August 2024, closes the month at 9.45am BST on Sunday 31 May.

That positioning matters. The Scorpio Full Moon is intense, emotional, and revealing. The Sagittarius Blue Moon is wide, restless, and seeking. The Taurus New Moon, sat between them, is the steady ground. She is the breath between two heavy events, and she rewards anyone willing to slow down for her.

The Astrology of the May New Moon 2026

This New Moon does not move alone. The Sun, the Moon, and Mercury all sit together in Taurus, drawing the mind into earth element thinking. There is a clarity available here that comes from the body rather than the head, a knowing that arrives through the senses rather than through analysis. Conversations may carry more weight than usual. Words spoken on this Moon tend to settle and stay.

Uranus, newly in Gemini after a seven year stay in Taurus, sits close by. The shift is fresh. Uranus in Gemini opens the mind, awakens perception, and brings restless new ideas. Taurus grounds while Uranus opens. The two energies feel contradictory at first glance, yet on this lunation they form an unusual partnership. The mind is wide open and the body asks you to root. Hold both. The downloads, intuitive flashes, and sudden insights this Moon offers want to be brought into the body, not left floating as ideas.

There is also a fixed star in play. The Taurus New Moon aligns with Algol, a star carrying a long reputation in astrology for confronting what lies beneath. Algol is not an easy presence, and there is no need to soften that. She asks what you have been afraid to look at, and what strength might be waiting on the other side of that fear. The pairing of Algol with Taurus earth is interesting. The fixed star brings the shadow into view, and the sign offers steady ground to stand on while you meet it.

    What Taurus Seeds

Taurus rules the second house in the natural zodiac, the house of values, money, possessions, self worth, and the body. A New Moon here invites work in any of these areas. The classic prompts are useful and worth returning to, particularly under this lunation where the 25 degree placement carries that additional weight of completion and initiation.

What do you genuinely value, beneath the values you have inherited or absorbed. What does abundance feel like in your body, rather than what it looks like on paper. Where are you undercharging, undervaluing, or quietly settling for less than your worth. Where are you rushing what wants to grow slowly.

These are not surface questions. Taurus does not respond well to a quick journal session and a list of affirmations. She wants you to sit with the question for the full lunar cycle, until the answer arrives through the body. The seeds planted now will not bloom by the next New Moon. They will grow at the pace of an oak. Trust that pace.

Crystals for the Taurus New Moon

Crystal work for this lunation centres on the heart and the root, the two energy centres Taurus presides over. The heart through her Venus rulership, the root through her earth element nature. The selection below reflects the dual emphasis on self worth, abundance, and grounded presence. Each crystal is in stock at Mystic Grove and ready to come home.

Green aventurine wand from Mystic Grove

    Green Aventurine

She comes first because she anchors every other intention in the body. Green Aventurine is the most versatile of all the Taurus stones, sometimes called the Stone of Opportunity. She opens the heart to receive, settles the nervous system, and creates the felt sense of permission that real abundance work asks for. Sit with her at the heart space during your New Moon practice. Notice the slight weight of her on the chest, the cool of her against the skin, the way her presence quietens the part of you that grasps.

Rose Quartz tower from Mystic Grove

    Rose Quartz

Rose Quartz is the classic Venus stone, and on a Taurus Moon her energy is essential. Where Green Aventurine opens the receiving channel, Rose Quartz opens the channel back to the self. She holds the work of self love, self worth, and the soft, steady recognition that you are worth the life you are trying to build. Hold her in the palm of the receiving hand, usually the left, and let her warmth move into the chest.

Rough Jade tumble stones from Mystic Grove

    Jade

Jade is the long held symbol of abundance, harmony, and lasting wellbeing, and she belongs at the centre of any Taurus altar. Her soft green energy encourages stability and calm confidence, holding the steady note while the rest of your selection moves around her. Where Green Aventurine handles the receiving channel and Pyrite handles the practical flow, Jade simply holds the field. She is the patient one. Place her at the centre of your grid or wherever the family of your intention sits.

    Pyrite sphere from Mystic Grove

    Pyrite

Pyrite, sometimes called fool’s gold, is the abundance stone with the brightest commercial reputation, and she earns it. She works on the second house Taurus territory of money and material flow, and she has a particular gift for the practical confidence that financial decisions need. Place her where you handle money, the desk, the purse, the place where the bills come in.

Tiger's Eye tumble stones from Mystic Grove

    Tiger’s Eye

Tiger’s Eye carries the practical, follow through side of Taurus that the other stones do not quite cover. She is both grounding and energising at once, working at the solar plexus and the root together, and her job is the daily showing up that turns an intention into something real. If your New Moon work is heavy on dreaming and light on doing, she will rebalance you.

    Carnelian tower from Mystic Grove

    Carnelian

Carnelian deserves a particular mention on this lunation. She wakes the sacral chakra and supports new beginnings, and on a Taurus New Moon her courage element pairs well with the steadier stones. She is the spark Algol asks for, the willingness to meet fear with a grounded, confident step forward.

A Simple Practice for Saturday 16 May

This practice is built for the body rather than the mind. There is no visualisation involved. Read it through once before you begin so you can move slowly through each step without checking the page.

Choose your crystal or your small selection. If you are working with one stone, choose Green Aventurine. If you are working with more, set them where you can reach them comfortably.

Find a quiet place, light a candle if you wish, and sit somewhere your body feels supported. The ground, a cushion, a low chair. Taurus does not need the spine soldier straight. She needs the body comfortable.

Take three long breaths in through the nose, longer out through the mouth. On each out breath, let the weight of your body sink a little more into the surface beneath you. Feel the contact. The press of your sit bones, the weight in your hands, the place where your feet meet the floor.

Pick up your crystal and bring her to your heart. Hold her there. Notice her weight, her temperature, the small shifts in how she feels against the body as the seconds pass. Stay with the sensation for at least a minute. There is no need to think.

When you are ready, ask the body, not the mind, what wants to be planted on this Moon. Wait. The answer will arrive as a felt sense, a soft knowing, a phrase that surfaces, sometimes a single word. Trust the first one that lands.

Speak the intention out loud once. Speak it again. Speak it a third time. Taurus likes three. Then place the crystal where you will see her every day for the rest of the lunar cycle, until the Blue Moon on 31 May.

Close by thanking the body, the breath, the Moon, and the stone. Blow out the candle. The seed is planted.

Working With This Lunation Across the Cycle

A Taurus New Moon plants for the long term, and the immediate days after the New Moon are quiet by design. You may not see movement for two or three weeks. The Sagittarius Blue Moon on 31 May will likely shake some of what you planted, asking you to widen your view and to question the shape of your truth. That is part of the cycle. The intentions that survive Sagittarius will be the ones genuinely rooted in your values, not in inherited expectations.

Litha, the Summer Solstice, follows on Sunday 21 June, the longest day of the year and the peak of the solar wheel. Whatever Taurus seeded on 16 May will be moving toward its first visible shoot by the Solstice. Watch for it. The body will tell you before the mind does.

The full cycle closes with the Taurus Full Moon on Sunday 25 October 2026. That is the harvest of what you plant now. Six months of slow, earth paced growth between the seed and the bloom. Trust her timing.

This lunation is gentle on the surface and serious underneath. Honour the slowness. Trust the body. Plant what truly matters, and let the earth do the rest.
