Lemon verbena essential oil is steam distilled from the leaves of Aloysia citrodora, a flowering shrub native to South America and widely grown in the Mediterranean. The essential oil has a bright, fresh, zesty lemon character that is sharper and more complex than lemon essential oil itself. It contains high levels of citral alongside other monoterpenoids that contribute to its fresh, green, and slightly floral top notes.
